Sennheiser IE80's Impressions Thread

I don't recommend Sony Hybrid tips for IE7/IE8/IE80 . These work great for most IEM-s on market, most but not Sennheiser high-end IEM offerings.

Keep us updated on your feeling on the Silver cable. Alex is a bit hesitant himself because he wants the IE80s to be faster. I feel the cable does help slightly in that area as well. Still curious if his pair is genuine or not though....

What do some of these users mean by the galaxy cable being straight and can't wear them over the ears?

Aren't IE80s only over-the-ear, or are they reversing the channels to wear them straight down with the galaxy silver cable.

The silver galaxy stock is made straight without the ear overhang. You can bend them to accommodate for over ear. I had zeroshoe do it for me so I didn't have to bother with doing it. He also marks the appropriate connector L and R so you should know which is which.

But you can't actually wear them straight down right? which is my question.

Else they would just dangle outwards because the cable for the connection is on top.

Well if you were to swap the drivers from left to right (regular cable) you could do this and they actually fit really well I've found. I still prefer to use them over-ear regardless for support and durability reasons.

Reading 200 pages of IE80's impression made me sooo envious of IE80 users

I have Denon D2000 already and recabled it for portable use paired with my Rocoo BA, but Rocoo BA is optimized for iems not headphone for godsake, silly me....
I'm looking at IE80 whose bass quality almost matched my Denon D2K, but the 400$ price tag is over my budget :frowning2:

I live in Indonesia that has quite small audiophile community and I doubt someone is selling used IE80 here
