Sennheiser IE8 Impressions Thread

Is there a recommended Rockbox EQ settings to remove the midbass hump without affecting the deep bass ? I searched this thread but came up empty. I am using Rockboxed Cowon X5 and Sansa Clip, soon to be replaced by S:flo2.

Use center frequency around 250-300Hz, a Q factor of around 1.0 (or maybe a bit lower), and lower the band's volume to your taste.

(Replacing an X5/Clip with an S-Flo? Ouch...)

Thanks much. Yeah, I want to see what all the fuss is about the S:flo2. I figured I could sell it for minimal loss if I don't like it. In addition to the IE8, I have recently bought The RE-262, FA DBA-02 and I want to get the best IEM/DAP synergy. I hope I will reach the end of my IEM search soon.

Highly unlikely, especially if you spend a lot of time here

Help Please on determining if I got a set of Fake IE 8s.  I got them from Ebay and have included pictures.  I would like to compare against known real Senn IE 8s.  These are a Christmas gift so I am anxious to know before it’s too late to get a replacement.

Anyone else recently ordered from advancedmp3players? I have placed my order for the ie8's but they are out of stock until the 13th december :frowning2:

The only thing is they said the stock would arrive last last friday and it did'nt. Has anyone had experience with these guys and there stock updates? I mean will they come in then or is that just there estimate? I dont want to wait that long only to find they push back the date again!!

Thanks.

I have those monster Supertips and at least for me, they just don't work as well as the stock tips. If you wear the IE8 over the ear, the stock double flanges gives excellent seal. Just make sure you push it deep enough. Sony hybrids work well and are a better option than the Supertips. YMMV.

I'm actually using the Triple Fi-10's medium single flange and it works for me perfectly. The monster kit I mentioned was transferred to me by another member from here, they are offer a wide range of selections and they work well but the TF gels work better for my taste. I did try the bundled bi-flanges, but the small ones doesn't seal at all and the large ones create muddy sound. Once you strike the right balance, than you get good sound out of these plugs, but personally I don't find them enjoyable neither with  too much leak, nor with very effective seal.

x2 on UE TF10 single flange silicone tips.... to my ears they are the best of anything for the IE8's (short of custom tips, I'm sure).

I have the TF10 (custom re-shelled), I never bothered with the tips that came with it. I will give them a try. I just ordered the Klipsch oval double flange for my DBA-02. I will try the IE8 with this tips as well.

I tried the UE medium single flange and found out that the IE8 sound their best with this tip than any in my arsenal. It seems the IE8 sounds best with shallow insertion. Are they designed to be used that way ?  I will keep experimenting with other tips.
