I liked the sound of Sonarwork's EQ but their software isn't a good long-term solution because basically once their servers go down you won't be able to activate the plugin license (even if you hack it, the generic 3dB presets aren't actually embedded in the dll, it downloads them from a server encrypted with your license key, so you can't share them with others). Also, I run Linux and while it's possible to use VSTs there with the magic of
dssi-vst, it'd be nice to have some FLOSS alternative.
I've found
EQ10Q which is a nice parametric EQ and applied
this harman curve skipping filters 5 and 10:
I connected it to my music players with Jack and I find the sound very nice.
Here are my config files:
https://www.mediafire.com/file/8e71aacl6f8e767/eq.7z
EQ10Q_Stereo_hd650_harman.preset.lv2 folder should go under ~/.lv2/ - it's the EQ's file.
eq10q.xml patchbay file can be placed anywhere and it's to be loaded via qjackctl
I've assigned this script to a key combo that starts everything for me:
Code:
#!/bin/bash
Xvfb :1 -screen 0 1280x720x24 &
DISPLAY=:1.0 jalv.gtk --load '/home/eimis/.lv2/EQ10Q_Stereo_hd650_harman.preset.lv2' http://eq10q.sourceforge.net/eq/eq10qs &
qjackctl -s
killall jalv.gtk Xvfb jackd
Remove the Xvfb call and DISPLAY=:1.0 to unhide the EQ window.
