yes, the 600 grills were $24 each I believe.  Or around that.  
 
All other prices were relatively the same.  
 
I was a bit upset when I heard the price on the phone, but needed to focus to complete the order without it looking like I was buying a complete pair of headphones with spare parts.  Luckily, the guy on the other line didn't seem too curious.

Also why would anyone buy 600/650s new and pre-assembled if you can buy the parts separately for much cheaper?

1. soundwise, they should be the same. yes, that is the lower trim on the picture you linked.
 
 
2. the only downside to this, is that you don't get matched drivers from the factory. Since I don't have super sharp finely tuned bat ears, the drivers I got sounded perfectly fine!

 
...I do wish I would've measured them with a multimeter, for information's sake

Those are spendy though! I was hoping I could find some cheaper drivers online like the HD 600 drivers.

I want to know too! Sennheiser is outta stock on HD600 drivers and I can't even find any trace of the HD650 drivers on their site.
