Sennheiser HD 700: Officially Unveiled at CES 2012!
Apr 11, 2012 at 5:08 AM Post #2,416 of 3,545
Just talked to a retailer here in Sweden and he said he should be getting the HD700's this week (maybe this is old news).

I was supposed to get my HD800's delivered tomorrow but I'm gonna go pick them up at the store instead so I can try out the HD700's.

The HD700 are not shipping yet.

That's what I thought too, but why would he lie about it? I told him I would come by if he got them this week or early next week so I'll see what he answers. Maybe I misunderstood him in the first email.

Update: He just answered and told me he was hoping to get the HD700's with the HD800's later this one or early next week.

I just asked my contact at Sennheiser Germany - they can't give a shipping date yet.

That sucks. I talked to the guy again and indeed, he said he was hoping for the HD700's but he only got the HD800's this afternoon.

Can't wait to listen to both of them!

I don't know much about designing that kind of thing but I won't guess that such an issue would be that easy to fix...

Well....I really hope they fix them.

That doesn't make much business sense to me but hope springs eternal.

Killing off sales of the HD800 would be nice incentive to make the HD900 or another Orpheus.

I hope they fix the HD700!!

I auditioned both the 700 and 800 from the Sennheiser booth at the Montreal AV show in March. IMHO, the HD800 is well worth the extra $$ over it's little brother. I also found it more comfortable, even if a little heavier than the 700. The larger ear cups felt more effective at spreading the pressure.

They were both playing through Grace amps, a big mistake in my book. When I went over to spend some time with Jack at his Woo booth, listening to the HD800's through his WA6SE and WA22 catapulted the 800's performance to much higher levels of resolution, dynamics and silky smooth mids...

Thx for the impressions.  I've been curious to hear something comparative between the Grace and some other known quantity (for me) even if it's just one data point.

Just listened to my HD800 "Anaxilus" modded.

Thanks Anaxilus.... Hope the HD700's don't need the mod.

Thanks but there's no need, many folks played a big part in it's creation and evolution which will still continue.  What matters is a community like this where folks can provide various inputs and yield a result that will hopefully improve people's listening enjoyment.  That said, I hope the HD700 and all phones in the future require no mods at all. As it stands today though, all my phones and most of the phones of H-Fiers I know in RL are modded in one form or another.

Btw, where's our OT post?
