I'm certain what would work well on the HD700 would be able to demonstrate the differences between it and the HD800. (Think reasonably priced Bifrost/LYR, DynaLo, used Concerto, et al.)
 
If you really need multiple-thousands investment to extract a 1% difference between HD700 and HD800, then I'd just as soon skip the whole high-end business all-together, lol. But that's me.

If you really already know it's only 1% I guess you have your answer already.  Let's go one step further and say YOU really don't need to spend more than $300 on a phone which makes me wonder what you are doing in this thread at all.

I think Sennheiser will still be leaving the colours/colour to Colorware to deal with. However if there really was the option for the same pair of cans in a different shade, i wouldn't be complaining about it .
