Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

I don't recall MADE IN IRELAND ever being omitted from the original version at any point. Unless there was a cross-over period where the old 600 was made in Romania like the HD660. Do you have the original outer box?
Unfortunately, I do not have the original outer box. The seller told me that, if his memory serves him right, there was "Made in Romania" written on the original outer sleeve (box). After a bit of searching, I've found a couple of Sennheiser 6 series headphones that were for sale and didn't have anything written on the those plastic tabs:

HD660S: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/sold-sennheiser-hd660s.909640/

HD650: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/sold-sennheiser-hd650.940420/

HD600: a bit hard to tell, but I think the plastic tabs are blank. My 2019 pair also has that black sticker with white "CE" letters on the same place on the metal headband yoke: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/sennheiser-hd600.910675/

I have also found this:

1.) https://www.head-fi.org/threads/sennheiser-hd650-romania.909468/
2.) https://old.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/bmr2r8/hd6xx_no_longer_made_in_ireland/emzp328/

I guess you're right about the cross-over period, and it looks like those 600/650/6xx/660s with blank plastic tabs could have probably been produced around time when Sennheiser started moving their production to Romania.

So after I've had my hd600s for a couple days now and grew accustomed to their sound I think I'll sell all of the other cans I have :) Love, love their signature.
Yep, this is a good sign

If anybody wants to buy a can from someone who doesn't have the 600s, just give a HD 600s christmas gift and check the "classifieds" in the forum after that...

I'm really digging the look of these new(ish) HD600's.
I bought a pair of used HD 600s. I love the sound, but the Formica look makes them feel cheap.

It’s funny, I just posted ads for all my other headphones, after one day with the HD600.

They are not the most impressive build. But for a few thousand dollars more it will be difficult to find something that sounds better.

I used to dislike the look and continued owning the 580s for another 20 years! Finally bought a pair this year.

As I have stated here earlier, I now love the look. They will certainly become more sort after as time moves on. New version looks commodity, old version is just...Classic!

I personally don't see any problem with the build. I like how they are essentially modular, meaning that if any part breaks it's easy to purhcase and replace. I bought an inexpensive used pair with a faulty driver and I purchased two new drivers from Sennheiser and installed them in less than 10 minutes with just a spoon as a tool. I've never owned another pair of headphones where I can do that.

I’ve never been without an HD600 since 2003 & I have always loved it’s aesthetic look. It also happens to be a spectacular sounding headphone. Been around since 1997, still a best seller and when Tyll Hertsens retired the HD600 was still part of his Wall of Fame. Tyll considered the HD600’s midrange better than most high end headphones.

It could be modular and still not be made from plastic.
