Any MODS for the HD 600's?

Comfort bending (covered here: http://www.head-fi.org/t/438898/hd650-hd600-hd580-comfortable-uncomfortable-or-fractured#post_5915650)

Other than that - no modding required IMHO, they are perfect as-is.

Theoretically, mass loading the driver baffle might tighten up the bass, given it's a relatively large area piece of plastic, but I have not yet figured out a way to do it that won't be messy as such requires some kind of heavy material to stick on it with adhesive. I came across an HD25 mod kit that has something like this but none of it for the HD600, and since I have no left-over Dynamat lying around as I haven't been into car audio in a while, I haven't any material to test it with.

You would be much better advised to chill out listening to your 600's! :) IMHO of course.

Which is exactly what I've been doing. Actually the customized EQ correction profile on Accudio does what I'm looking for, but it hasn't been updated yet to not crash on iOS7. I've been attempting to duplicate the EQ profile on my Android but I just can't get it right with just one band in the bass region, as widening the Q factor doesn't get as precise as the custom curve on Accudio.

Are there any balanced cables you would recommend for the 600s that are reasonably priced?  MoonAudio Blue Dragons seem well liked, but are still more than I'd like to pay.  There is always the DIY option, but I thought I'd get a feel for what else is out there.  Paying 50% the price of the headphones themselves for a cable just hurts.

You are comparing a motorbike to a sedan, mate!

Ah I see. Guess I figured the ie80's would be better due to the massive price. Didn't know how overpriced they were :/

The bad news is that the dragonfly is not nearly enough for the HD600.
If you want IEM's, get the Shure SE535. My 2c.

Thanks for the info.

Headroom sells a basic one for $99.

Which is a 650 cable and Nuetrik XLR, so you can make the same for about $25-30

Yeah, that was what I had in mind if I were to go the DIY route.  Glad to know a (more) reasonably priced balanced exists though.

As a very happy HD600 (Schiit Modi/Vali) owner ... I am now interested in 1 more pair of HP that have a very different sound for different kind of music. I was thinking Grados for that electrifying guitar kind of sound.

For HD600 owners ... what's your #2 HP you listen to?
