Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

Yup, but in my opinion largest difference is in upper mids where HD600 are much more energetic. In my opinion HD650 upper mids is 50/50 Sometimes its vocals is very smooth, creamy, romantic, full of life, but sometimes severely lacking extension when vocals play. I think HD600 have perfect upper midds balance, but other parts of mids are still better in HD650. Whould be nice to have HD600 or T1 upper mids and HD650 lower and middle part of mids:)

Suggest HE-560, better bass than HD-600, lower, more defined, mids that are about like the HD-650 or a touch more forward and smooth detailed highs like the T1/HD-800, just make sure the rest of your gear is up to the task.  Others to look at: GS1000e, latest LCD-2.

No comment, don't waste your money for unknown cable. You can search good cable for HD600 in other thread.
Note: Nothing wrong with HD600 stock cable, we are talking SQ not physical (length, material etc).

If you want to upgrade SQ, buy good DAC and desktop Amp for HD600.
You can use Dragonfly DAC and add a good desktop amp. ( >$300)

Happy shopping....

Nahh, i love T1.1 presentation 2 much:) Whole presentation of mids suit me for many many genres. For little bit more lower mids presence i didn't want to sacrifice wide, airy soundtage of T1. I think my last 2 purchases should be some decent dac and HD800/HD800S.

I've had/I have a 6X0 and 700 version of that cable, and it's fine for the price. I really don't believe a 1.5m cable will do anything to your sound (and forget it if it's USB, but that's another story)

I DIY balanced my HD600 with the official Senn HD650 replacement cable, cheap on Amazon UK: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-3m-Replacement-Cable-HD650/dp/B0028PGXRE

Perfectly happy with it, except that unlike the stock cable the driver plugs aren't colour-marked.

The nice thing is that the plugs at least "fill up" the port fully, so the connection is nice and stiff. The HD600 cable's prongs were too small.

On my copy the stock cable fit wasn't loose, but easy.  It's true the HD650's are thicker, I had to almost force them in there.

I vouche for this cable, very decent, does the job.

I just purchased and took delivery of this same cable (1.8m long I think) today from Amazon U.S. Nice quality connectors, slim ultra-flexible cable, and dirt cheap. I'm burning in a Schiit Yggy that just arrived last night so it will be a few days before I can listen to a fully warmed up dac. But even if they don't sound top shelf I can use the 600's with my portable CD player if I chose to as it comes with a mini plug termination and a screw on 1/4" plug adapter and I've already checked and it works both ways. And like I said, it's cheap. I also have a 15 foot Cable Pro Reality cable for the 600's (superb connectors at both ends) I use for listening to the Oppo 105D HP amp when I want to watch BRD's at night. Not cheap but not a second mortgage on the home acquisition price either. Eventually I'll compare both with the stock for sound, but the stock connectors were so flimsy and small to manipulate, and at 3 meters no good for my use when watching movies.

My HD 600 works perfectly with my macbook pro retina actually. Little better than Iphone 6.
i guess Macbook pro retina has a good amp built in

If the HD-600 sound perfect on you MacBook pro then don't worry about getting an amp, you wallet will be very happy.

If you have a chance to attend a head-fi meet you might want to try the HD-600 on other amps to see if there is a difference.

Finally pulled the trigger and ordered a pair of 600s! I've been trying to decide between the 650s and 600s for a while now. I would have liked to try both before ordering, but sadly the audio store nearby only had the 700s from the Sennheiser line-up when I visited. The 700s were nice, but not quite what I was looking for, hope I'll like 600s more.
