I listen to everything from indie, alternative to hip-hop music. I was thinking about DT880, or DT990. I was also looking at the DT150. The choice doesn't have to be within the Beyerdynamic family. I plan to pick up a Emotiva DC-1 this week to use as my main rig.
My headphone adventure so far has found that DT880-600 is also a very enjoyable headphone for a HD600 fan. I had to go back to go forward!
I'm listening to Guns N' Roses for the first time on the HD600... it's difficult to explain but it sounds like the best possible headphone plugged in at that moment, like no change to them could make them better. That is such a rare feat for headphones.
Yet I continue buying more headphones
Looks like you'll be off to rehab very soon.
Why, which part are you referring to?
I'm not on anything that needs rehab
Just enjoying wonderful music on wonderful headphones!
So you're in denial about your headphone addiction?
Haha! having an headphone addiction is nothing that needs rehab! For some people, it's the best medicine possible man. I thought StanD might be referring something related to listening to Guns N' Roses on the HD600 haha!
Right now I have several amp options-Little Dot MKIII, Keces HA-171, Beresford Capella & a JDS Labs O2. Any input on any of these with say the HE-400i which I've been eyeing lately.
For DAC's I have a Maverick Audio D-2 & Beresford Bushmaster MKII.
Other equipment see below

StanD, you're saying things but I don't see the negatives in them. I'm enjoying my headphone adventure, it's my only real expenditure and it isn't harming anybody. What is your point?
We must find the next suitable king!
Might as well cut to the chase and grab an Stax SR-009 and the required amp. Ouch
