HD580 with the grilles from the 600 and a 650's cable is what you want (I have two pairs like this <biggrin>).  However, since the 580 is getting seen less and less on the FS/FT forums you could put HD600 driver in a HD650 frame/headband.

You remind me of Dr. Frankenstein.

Nahhhhh...I just took all the mirrors out of my listening room and now I hardly notice...except that stupid 1/8 plug!
The adapter they provide is nice but I think the cable is stupid i.e. it's too long for portable use and the 1/8 plug is wrong for home use.
They should provide 1.5m 1/8 and 3m 1/4 if they want to make me happy.

Y'know..... reterminating a cable (or building one from scratch for that matter) is actually quite easy.  I don't know what your skill level with a soldering iron is but even someone who's never held an iron in his hand could do it.

LOL...that's one of the things I like about the HD's.  They're modular and everything is interchangeable between the 3 models.

Yes I can build a cable but that requires either trashing the $25 OEM cable and buying a TRS or buying $20 HD connectors/cable/TRS so it's really not the point I was making. I am questioning why anyone needs 3m cable with a mini connector...

Excellent German engineering. The HD518, HD558 and HD598 have the same drivers. Who knows what other mischief they've been up to. LOL.

WL, how are you liking your LCD? Is there anything that makes it clearly stand out over what you heard from the HD-600?

I'll let you know when my HD600 come in.

Unfortunately I didn't get to compare the LCD to the HD600.

I tested the HD600 to the HD800, then two months later, the HD800 to the LCD2.2.
