I know this reply is late to the party but I've acquired some 560 ovation (MK1) and having had the 540 ref and 540 gold plus 580 , 600, 650 and the newer 560s , the 30 plus year old ovation blows them all out of the water,. Closest that comes to my Stax lambdas in overall sound signature, no veil, exceptional clarity and timbre, for jazz , small ensemble pieces, classical and soft rock nothing beats them imo , the 540s run them close though.

Hi, How does the 560 ovation (MK1) compare to the HD530? Looking for a set of second hand Sennhesers.

I preferred the HD530 (in 1988) over the more expensive at the time HD540 (MK2). I was very disappointed with the HD650 replacement. 650s to intimate/confined (claustrophobic) with no forward AIRY sound stage , nor sparkle... and too much bass. HD650 looks good and feels comfortable after stretching the headband. Not enjoyable like the old 530's IMO.
