My daughter is in a "therapeutic listening" program for a condition called sensory integration disorder. The program modulates frequencies to stimulate the inner ear while listening to music. They suggest using a headphone that has a frequency response from 12-38,000 HZ with an minimum impedence of 150 ohm. Sennheiser makes a special headphone for them with these characteristics - they claim it is a 590 in a 500 package, but the specs are slightly different.

I can imagine why the frequence response would be important in this program, but any clues why the impedence would matter?

Any other suggestions of headphones that match these specifications?

I am very sorry for bumping this but I am curious if anyone knows the answer to this. I am going through this program and was wondering if someone knew the answer....sennheiser has the 500A model which I was thinking about buying but I was wondering if I would be fine with just an hd555 or would I have to get the 500A model.
