I purchased some sennheiser 424's at a garage sale 4 years ago and I absolutely freaking love them. However! when I recently decided that the ear pads needed replacing I started hunting around for them and discovered that the previous owner had gone for some ear pads that are far from the normal ones that sennheiser had originally. I cannot for the life of me locate or even begin to find what these ear pads are for so I can buy replacements, assuming I can even buy replacements for them. They are super comfortable and I really don't want to have to get the stock foam pads. If anyone has any advice or knows what these ear pads belong to thank you in advance! I submit pictures. If you have any questions to help me out that will help you out I'll gladly answer them. I'm desperate to find these!

Those pleather pads appear to be very old, so it's likely that only someone very knowledgeable in vintage headphone pads will be able to help you locate that same type.
 
But I can tell you that the pads are 90mm outer diameter, and this is a very common size for headphone manufacturers and aftermarket pad suppliers.  I put the aftermarket pads from my MDR-V700 on my HD 424 and they fit.  After trying them on, I don't think they're the best match in terms of comfort (haven't put sound through them yet), but since it's an easy size to find, you can shop around and try to get something better.  From the feeling of these pads I've got on now, I would say that you might want to look for something thicker and softer than normal.  Your pads appear to be thick and soft, although that may just be because the inner circumference seam has completely split.
 
n dt, I recommend you pay a little more attention to threads that you're replying to.  You missed the point of the poster's request in this thread, and the other thread you replied to a  2 year old thread by someone who did not post anything else after that, and is very likely no longer a part of this community.  I always click on these threads for this headphone because I own a pair and like to read people's experiences with them, but when people (typically new to the site) revive old threads for nothing or give little to the discussion then it makes the reading a little less pleasant for the rest of us.  Other than that, welcome to Head-Fi, and I'm glad you are trying to put something back into it.

@Lurkumaural  Thanks for the welcome! and you understand my problem! I'll keep an eye out for those sony replacements, but I dunno it was an absolute craps shoot asking it in here but I figure I'd ask. Everyone here seems knowledgeable and friendly! That is roughly what I'm looking for, I'm almost positive I'll never find the replacements for these but I'd figure I'd throw a shot in the dark to some experts. I still absolutely love listening to these things for long hours on my living room floor cranking typically floyd, ZZ top, or J Geils band. Makes it even better hooked up to some old tube amp I got handed down in my family. I may just break down and get the stock replacements but I know it won't be the same level of comfort, I love the enclosed  style of headphone and the on ear doesn't do it for me. I'll hunt down those sony's and some other 90mm others. Thank you sir!

Wrt your comment on 'other thread' :  I don’t engage in circle-J forum protocol.  If the board doesn't want responses to old threads they can close them to response after x-months, automatically, or delete them.  I happen own two HD 424s and had a similar problem to starman1951's, a problem which no other members bothered to answer.  Hmmm, wonder why he's 'longer a part of this community'...
