SennGrado Thread

Google it mate, Its an interesting read ;)

It's fascinating stuff. Watched a pair of cups being turned with it at Jim's once. The shavings clumped because it's so oily. They used to use it to carve bearings for submarine propellers. It's too dense to float, and incredibly hard-wearing. Jim sharpened his blades frequently as he went along...

And thats part of the reason I went with it.
I like it that much Ive requested a Record Clamp turned out of the same wood.
I may even get some feet and some spikes for my P3 made up too.

lignum vitae is used to make mallets. a mallet is a wooden device used to hit other tools into the workpiece. Hence it needs to be tough and is a challenging wood to work with. It's also super oily, almost wet. One would think it would act in a deadoning manner. If the cup is too dead, will it accept the delicate vibrations of the driver? If I worked with that wood, i'd treat it like other dense woods and try and get it as low mass as possible to offset the density and oil. On a tangential topic, It's awesome to see so many people cranking out quality cups. Ain't nuthin better than making something with the old mits.

real references vs digital subjectivism

when you think about it there are two basic paths: one of a consumer technology chaser and another one a builder of something beautiful in reality.

If a headphone faithfully reproduces a known set of references accurately, it is of high fidelity.

Ive been thinking,
Would a Philips Fidelio X1 or X2 headband assembly work with a Senngrado?
YOU SAW THE IDEA HERE FIRST! In before someone steals it lmao!

...am looking to see if I can buy them alone...might be too expensive to buy a pair of X1 just to cannibalize the headband :).

As you haven't answered any of my PM's or communicated with me in any way since you received my headphones I assume you liked them a little too much.

Oh dear...not cool...this thread and the feeling of community around it was going along so nicely as well. Here's hoping we haven't had a hit 'n run here...

He's been around for a bit and just added as a moon audio ambassador I believe, so he has investment in the community. It's probably just life happening, but you never know.

He got in touch with me and said he was preoccupied with other things.

IMO when you're doing these type of transactions communication is key to keeping a high trust level.
If you have other more pressing things to do you should communicate that, you shouldn't let weeks go by without answering PM's or emails.

sadly, it's more pressing things that get in the way of communication, that and 7keys this was a little SPUR OF THE MOMENT, which I regret not thinking about how busy I would be this time of year :/

that said guys, I spent about 2 weeks with my MS1i  [which has been listening on my drive to and from work and school] , and I switched to the Senn Grado Today, while it held together, I found it to be... much more balanced in terms of sound of the MS1i, espically in the upper mids, the Senn Grado has a great mix of smoothness and clarity! The best of both worlds, as it should
