Seiun player, $150 player with monster spec. Too good to be true?

Wish I could see if the new IDGG Burson Dac Amp worked with my system...
Just won't work with the wife after buying an ETHER. She doesn't know about this Player... I am just happy with having stuff. Matching is more to do what's in the bank...

All fun though..

Just decided to give a go at their PHA DAC/amp (in the purest Sony ripped-off style).
I'll see what their dual ESS chip choice is worth.
It's probably less of a risk than their Pro DAPs since UI is less critical in a DAC/amp than in an DAP...

Hope they do stick with the Sony rip-off look, it is a very good looking rendered rip-off, after all. Interested to know if they will be sending out cases with the PHA to fit the Pro or not, as that was a major part of the appeal if both items were paired together. Just looking forward to getting some concrete posting dates now - should only be a month or so before they have to confirm if the project is officially on schedule or not! ;)

Anyone notice they change the output impedance to 4.7? they had confirmed 1.2 or 2 ohms but right now they have a hoard of angry backers blasting the comments. The amp has also had its chips switched from the intended 9018 :/
it has been 4.7 ohm since the start of the campaign.

I beg to strongly differ.

In one of their last IRC chats, Cyberdrive has announced they could lower the impedance to 2 ohm. On that occasion, they had explicitly consulted the backers if we would accept that solution.

It is a bad sign that this issue has come back to comments. I am also curious and concerned about the final impedance of the product.

From the chat:

<+tiki_CD> So I would like to start with the Output Impedance question, <+tiki_CD> Basically what I found out from our R&D team is that they can lower the Ωs.
<+tiki_CD> 4.7Ω was the setting recommended to them by ESS (for compatibility). however the full recommended range is 1.8-4.7Ωs.
<+tiki_CD> My question for all of you is 1.8Ω low enough? 2Ωs would be a perfect match for our Impact & Classic series of IEMs, however I know many would like to use their own IEMs.

They have also been very reluctant to answer any of the backer's questions and it is a bit shady in my opinion. A lot of people backed the product based on the decision to lower the output impedance as well as for the use of a specific chip in the PHA, and now theyve changed the specifications without any email or update to notify the backers. Considering that the ship date is end of march/april this motion is very concerning. Lets just hope it is not a "bait and switch" type tactic here. Cyberdrive whats the deal?

There was even a cyberdrive employee answering questions yesterday("10 hours ago" at the time i checked last night), however she avoided all the questions about the specs and only answered the comments concerning ship dates.

Very concerning.

The play store apps been updated. I think the windows version too.

Hopefully automatic disconnect when you remove headphones from my Sam S5...

I like the sound and the UI.

But I keep saying this get some CAIG deoxit best thing I've ever done with my equipment and the cheapest...

I may be absolutely wrong, but my impression of the CD staff that are trying to answer the technical questions posed by backers are basically "middlemen" who are doing what they can to get information from someone in Taiwan who has actually designed and is building the Pro players and the PHA.  This campaign reminds very much of the Nationite Sflo2 experience.  Nationite worked through Teclast to get their name on a Teclast player, and Nationite suffered due to delays caused by Teclast.  I think that CD is doing something similar.  There appears to be a company (? under direction of Thomas Chen) in Taiwan who is making all the decisions on these products, and they appear to be making some modifications that are most likely outside the control of CD.  It appears to me that CD is a "front" for the manufacturing company, and unfortunately, they will take the blame for changes they are not responsible for.  Hopefully, the folks that we are communicating with at CD have passed along backer's concerns to the manufacturer, but who knows what impact this will have in the final production of the Pro's and PHA.  Therefore, the members of the CD campaign who are trying to answer the questions posed re: ESS DAC and HO impedance are probably not dodging the questions, they probably just don't know the answers yet...

This is a doctor's watch issue.
Time and patients...

If we get something in the post.. great

If it get a basic player review. Good for the money.. better..

As good as a FIIO x7.. marvellous

A DAP for a weeks Starbucks coffee latte.... With biscuits...

I cloud server software. and at worst a a mini Samsung tab for your mum...

Get some realistic expectations..

Unless you payed $100 just to add some drama in your life... Take a crazy girl on a date, a bit cheaper and you don't feel bad for forgetting about it..

8^p

Keep smiling it's just electronics..

Nice summary, I agree completely.  I am really looking forward to the Pro X, no matter how it turns out.  Hope for the best, and enjoy some music in the mean time (with or without a crazy girl!)

Sorry to the light-minded around here, but I don't think it is acceptable to say that Cyberdrive can have a free ride on the backer's money. They have promised a hi-res high quality music player. Their project looked serious and rather mature at first (just watch their campaign video), but after a while some nasty details crept in. The lack of a dedicated headphone amp and the issues on the output impedance should have raised the red flag, but Cyberdrive had claimed they could (and would) lower the impedance. I should have taken a refund then, but I believed they would at least make the effort of making their player sound decent with their own earphone. Now we are in the dark, with Cyberdrive restricting itself to answer about shipping questions and ignoring anything else that could make them look bad.

Oh... and so far, there is no working prototype to be seen; just some renderings.

I have no issues with people's concerns they are more than valid and should be asked without question.
But until we have a unit in our hands, daily updates or weeks of silence don't mean a thing. Then that's another ball game..of post production issues..

Just reduces uncertainty.... In the short term. ..

Keep smiling..
