Thanks are in order for a gentleman on here (Rensek) who gifted me some sipping whiskies. I may have sent him a fairly rare tube but this is going above and beyond.🤪

Butler amp as in tube amp for car audio? If so, Billy Gibbons would approve.
"Thermonic" tube amp for home not car audio. Two channels of the 5 are out at the moment. :)

Very nice! If you don't mind me asking, can you tell any kind of difference between turning the OS filter on and off on your Yggy? I've got the Less Is More flavor, but not the "+" version and I'm debating whether I should do the upgraded chassis.
I have not tried that with my Yggy. Thank you, something new to play with! If I hear a difference I'll report back. :smiley_cat:

I spent a good bit of last evening listening to Urd and comparing it to streaming the same CDs that I personally ripped to FLAC through the same DAC (Bifrost 2). I must be honest and say I really could not hear any differences but then I did not really expect to. For me, Urd was always intended to be a "off the net" way to play my music and to be sure I could hear the exact disc mastering I wanted to, rather than whatever happened that week to be available on a streaming service that may or may not exist in two years.

Urd performed well. Controls are responsive and the tray mechanism is very smooth. The display works as intended in a very minimalist way. I had no trouble playing two of the three (old) discs I tried, sounded amazing, but the third had some strange static/metalic screeching sort of noise that started near the end of the first track. Could be that the disc has started to decay after almost 40 years, which would be a great pity.

First impression overall of the Urd are very positive. Good work everyone at Schiit!

Looking at Ragnirok & Urd combo meal deal and the website mentions “ just an amp” or “fully loaded” didn’t seem clear what were the differences and if one or the other works with Urd.

Thanx

"Just an amp" means you will require a DAC between Urd and Ragnarok. "Fully loaded" means the Ragnarok will have a DAC card installed.

Hey all,

Pretty soon, some of you may be getting an email about a neat package we’re doing with Dan Clark Audio.

The TL;DR version is: we’re putting together Jotunheim 2 Multibit and Aeon 2 Noire for $1249.

Purchased!

I've been thinking about buying a Modi Multibit, Magni+, and a Rekkr to create a small two channel system for my desk. This combo will let me use the Jot as my preamp and also try some new headphones! When I get my desktop speakers, I will probably buy a Gjallarhorn instead of the Rekkr in order to match sizes.

I have been reading this thread for years but don't post much. This has me excited enough to put pen to paper... or more accurately, fingers to keyboard.

@M Paul

Urd needs a Dac to convert the digital to analog before the preamp/amp..

If you need a DAC and don't mind a 3rd box. I would suggest you consider a Modi Multibit 2 to go with Ragnarok just an amp, instead of fully loaded..

Modi Multibit 2 has 3 inputs and its own power supply.

Rag 2 fully loaded comes with a DAC card with only USB, and a phono preamp card, as internal components..
