For the last 2.5 years I have been using SYS in reverse as a glorified switch to go between headphone amp and speaker amp.
...
I checked my SYS just now and the volume was maxed.
It's the wrong tool for the job. You should be using a simple RCA switchbox with no potentiometer in the signal path. Even with volume control at max, it might not be providing a straight-through connection.

For example:

Many more choices on eBay and Amazon.

I have recently been researching this, and found these higher end switchboxes. I saw the ones you linked, but thought these would be more "on par" with the rest of my equipment.

Here is one that is a good bit cheaper. A switch doesn't really need to be all that "High End". It's made for switching sub millivolt phono signals so line level is a breeze. I had to clean the switches on mine after about 5 years. Was using it for two turntables, now use it to switch between AVR pre-out and Saga to my 2 channel speaker amp

I did some testing some time ago and wrote about it in this thread.

Thanks, I guess the main reason I wanted to go "higher end" than that, is I have a Niles AXP-1 Switchbox, which by all accounts is a well reviewed switchbox in that price range, and after a few years it started crackling, and now multiple inputs have marked signal drop. It just kind of soured me on products of that ilk.

Good suggestions guys. I will consider that one from Esoteric if I need a passive switchbox in the future.

The reason I bought the SYS was it matched my other schiit gear and it was only $50. I'll hold onto it incase I need a passive preamp.

IMO spending over $300 for a passive mechanical switchbox is outrageous.

If you have know how to solder, the other thing you could do is open up your SYS and add a couple of short jumper wires to bypass the potentiometer, on the underside of the board:

Very good suggestion. I'm surprised I didn't think of it myself. I might do this and see how it compares to no switchbox.

Suit yourself. You can throw away a $39 switchbox every three to 5 years and you will probably move past your need for switchboxes before you spend $100 much less $300.

Folks can I request if someone can post links to Yggy and Gumby impressions or reviews ? Much appreciate also if someone has done differences between Yggy and Gumby.

I picked Modi-MB feeding into my amp and it already sounds great. I was looking for any coloration - Zero. However I do miss minor (very little) resolution here and there but nothing to complain about. However I did take Modi-MB path so I do enjoy upgrade path and enjoy the improvements when I go with Gumby/Yggy (depends on my purse)
