Sansa Fuze Or Sansa Clip+

No need, really......the headphone-out is a clear enough signal as is. Setting the Rockbox volume to 0db is essentially a line-out signal from the headphone-out. And I wouldn't buy an LOD cable that cost as much as the player I was hooking it to, either....lol.

I personally don't like rockbox nor the sound signature it provides, stock firmware with the lod works best.
 
Plus that ebayer uses film caps in his lod, to protect your amp from any dc output from the line out.

rockbox doesn't change sound... if anything it produces better sound because it corrects the pitch error that sansa players have...

I can notice a difference in sound between a stock Clip+ and rockboxed. Rockbox lacks some clarity compared, They do have a different sound signature imo.

After many months owning a rockboxed Clip+ I too prefer stock firmware over rockbox. I've also noticed great changes in sound since using this mini to mini. There's more detail and the overall sound is smoother less congested. Small micro detailing is popping out in my music presenting itself easier. Again....using the stock firmware. The signal is clean and I don't notice any difference using an LOD on my ipods.

That's odd, my findings have been completely opposite of yours.. That's a pretty set up though, simple and effective

This, exactly. The Clip Zip finally got the pitch error corrected.....The older Clip and Clip+ and the Fuze all had it.

I really like your setup, and it seems like the most affordable portable option for me and my new Etymotic ER-4B. How do you like it?

Since changing the interconnect I like it very much. What shows is excellent channel separation, exceptional clarity (thanks to the clip) and basically a lot of power on tap from the E11 driving IEM's like TF10 / GRO7 to ear bleeding levels. There's more treble extension over my Cowon S9 and vocals produce a real intimate experience. When you combine the cost of roughly $100 to get this going it blows away Cowon's high powered headphones outs. Set the E11 to low power / low gain / EQ1. where it falls short slightly compared up against S9 is soundstage width and micro detailing.

If you want to look at Cowon there's some C2's going on ebay at the moment for $111 US however if you want the Clip+ E11 route I'll need to link you to the interconnect cable found on ebay. It took me ages to find it. They come in blue or black.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I decided to grab an iPod classic + E11 instead, but I might just grab a clip+ as well to hear the difference since they're so cheap. By the way, how is your clip secured to the e11?

Just a small piece of double sided tape.

I've heard there is a new Fuse coming out soon?

Do not buy a Fuze+. The touch controls will make you want to smash it with a sledgehammer.
I think if SanDisk was going to release a new player this year it would have happened by now. The last few years it's been the end of August that they've had their releases.The only thing they did was announce new colors available for the Clip+
