Yup you're not a true audiophile until you've asked yourself the question "well what's a kidney worth, really?"

Now we know. If you have an extra kidney, you can buy about 17 Oriolus Trailliis.

NF Audio NM2+ revisited.

I received the NF2+ as part of a small convoy for demo from @tgx78. At the time I said "easily the best IEM of the 5 I'm discussing here in terms of technicalities (layering, separation, imaging), fantastic midrange timbre-- both male and female vocals excel on these. Bass is decently present with a nice mid-bass emphasis. The achilles heel here is the overloaded upper mids which makes them often too strident and occasionally shouty. On the whole a nice engaging tuning with great technicalities-- I'll be working on them with some EQ as I feel there is lots of potential here. Stay tuned."

I've been spending time with the NF2+ again off and on the last 24 hours and I'm finding that if I EQ most of the upper mids & lower treble down (1K @ -2, 2K @ -2, 4K @ -1) it cleans everything right up and in addition to everything I said the first time this EQ profile turns the NF2+ into a solid, dynamic spacious, natural, technical, engaging & non-fatiguing IEM...color me impressed! Big caveat of course is that EQ for this IEM is absolutely essential imho-- but it does effortlessly many things other IEMs struggle with. I EQ most of my IEMs and I don't personally consider it a real negative if everything else that isn't fixable by EQ is in top form.

Oh I am glad you are enjoying the NM2+ (with EQ). I almost always EQ all my IEMs and sometimes physically mod them if EQing becomes detrimental by the driver limitations (high distortion etc).

Yeah it's got uncommonly good vocal timbre (male and female both, which isn't always a given), a great holographic stage, a nice mid-bass response, good balance etc.

If you are interested, I can also send you the NM2 which has same driver as the NM2+ but without those fancy aluminum shells. I modded it to match the EE Bravado mkii’s bass output though 😂

I've got my hands full for a bit...the bass on the NM2+ as is is quite good for me...I'm not sure Bravado MKii level bass would work unless you also had that fantastic e-stat treble to offset it.

What software do you use to EQ your IEMs? I haven't found anything great for my DAPs. The only parametric EQ I"ve had luck with is Equalizer APO, but then I need to get my laptop invovled. I've tried Wavelet, but it didn't work well.

UAPP with toneboosters (a separate purchase I believe) worked really well for me. Neutron was ok as well.

I've seen that software recommended. IIFC, it also supports Tidal in some way.

Edited to note: Now I remember, you can't download content for offline listening since it is not native Tidal which is why I was looking for system wide EQ that I thought Wavelet supported, but obviously not always as it does not work on my R6 2020. I should try it with my DX300.

Tidal and Qobuz are integrated. Its nice to stay in one interface and traverse local and streaming as well as having advanced EQ and extra settings like gapless playback available without waiting for manufacturers to provide the feature in their apps. I actually prefer the minimalistic UAPP interface. And the sound is better to my ears on average.

Yep, works with your Tidal login, although I personally prefer the Tidal UI than the one offered through UAPP.
In general, I agree with you. But, UAPP with Tonebusters allows Parametric EQ which I cannot do with the native Tidal interface. I just tried to download Wavelet and it didn't work.
