grawk, can you describe the sound of 843s compared to 8610s?

I see, then, can you tell me your opinions about them? I have a set of 637s but they are a tad bit laid back to my taste and I'm just wondering if 843s have different characteristics.

I really just suggest you try them. It's not terribly expensive, and I was quite happy with the results. The M3 was the best amp I've ever had for getting out of the way of the music.

You are a hard man to persuade, eh?

I have a pair of AD8610s on the way possibly and may try THS4631s as well. I will surely add 843s to my try-list.

You should make sure your amp has sufficient gain to keep them stable, the 637s are not universal plug and play with this amp. You never, ever want to put one in the ground channel.

Oops. My mistake. I actually meant 843s.

My current setup is 637s for L/R and 627 for ground.

Is there anyway we could start an opamp swap or exchange? I would be interested in trying the 637/627 combo but don't know if I want to plunk down the $70 to give it a shot. Anybody want to sell theirs used?

Start plunking, there's no question whether they're the best. I wouldn't swap a lot, it's such a pain to get those little guys in and out. Unless you have an extraction tool, i guess.

If anyone wants 3 8610s, they need only ask for the little stinkers.
