Did you try reset button (pin hole really) ?
that's always worked for me when my X3 got stuck in some function.

Still no secret shut down key combo?

What about the reset hole on the side... did you try that already?

that happened to me one time... when it would not turn off... the reset did it... I used a thin cake tester

OK, so my description was a little lite... I should have added that the lock switch will not change the situation. I flip to LOCK and reset. The original OS boot splash appears and stays lit. Can't get in or out. The problem is the same... It's gone 4hrs now in this permanently... aroused state. That's why I'm seeking "Dr.'s" advice.

The last few times (as in every) charging was via PC USB. I don't have an iPhone or other similarly "plugged" device to use an alternate power source. This has been adequately charged for days.

Thanks for the advice. Still no secret shut down key combo?

So you tried it in the locked position and hit reset. Try it in the UNLOCK position and reset. You can also hold down the power button while hitting reset.

Also, any micro usb wall charger will work. If you don’t own a single one, I understand. You can buy then at any store or online for a few dollars. Even a USB one for your car will work too.

It’s just to rule the battery out. I know you said it’s charged, but my point is that I have personally (and on more than one occasion) my X3 has been locked up because of some sort of power condition. It was the exact behavior you describe. The only way I was able to “snap it out” of the lockup condition was to slide the switch to unlock and put it on a non-computer based charging cycle for 6-8 hours. Then when I hit reset it wakes up and works perfectly.

Agreed.

Rockbox sounds awesome on the X3, and is an extremely popular OS for dozens of DAPs (and has been for almost 20 years now).

It is very powerful and has boatloads of features.

There is a small learning curve though. It’s similar, but not as ‘dumbed down’ or ‘idiot proof’ as an iPod interface. There is extremely detailed and easy to read documentation to help, as well as all of us here on HeadFi.

I think a few people who bought the X3, is because of the 24 bits support and the DSD playback. (like me)
To bad I found out, that Rockbox doesn't support them after I installed Rockbox.
Sadly enough there is no way back.

The gappless playback is superb indeed.
I wish I had the dual boot option working, so I can have the best of two worlds.

There is a way to go back to stock. You just have to have dual boot working. Those of us that are locked in are the ones with dual boot broken.

Since you said your dual boot is working, then you are one of the lucky ones that can go back.

Well, perhaps someone can step up when they get home from work... but in the mean time. I got it to boot. I'll send some imaginary web-coin to the person who comes up with the same solution I just did.

Thanks for playing.

Well, perhaps the crickets indicate just how elementary this problem is. What I did was simply think... the OS is on the SD card(s), so I popped them out and deprived the X3 of that path of processing. I got a screen indicating the boot section is missing, or some such, and when the cards were reseated everything is fine.

Good Luck

Folks, I need your help.

I had two micro SD cards in the xDuoo X3 (RockBox'd), running without any issues. Now I've put the 2nd micro SD card into another player and back into the X3, and now all of a sudden it isn't shown in the Files or Database overview anymore (I've removed all of the files that the other DAP created on it). Manually initialising and updating the database didn't help. The strange thing is that the stock xDuoo X3 firmware detects the micro SD card in slot 2 without any issues, so does my PC.
It may be that I've accidentally deleted some RockBox-specific folders necessary to read it on that micro SD card. Any advise? What folders should be on SD2?
The official guide doesn't say anything about it.

Thanks in advance.

Forget what I just wrote - the solution was super simple and embarrassing a.f. It turned out that I had accidentally inserted the wrong micro SD card into the player and the one that was initially in it was put away as a backup card. Oh well...

Hi guys, I might do with some help.
I broke the headphone connector dropping my XDuoo and, after fixing it, I broke one of the volume switches while I was reassembling (I know, I am clumsy). I have soldered back the switch, but a resistor fell off while using the hot air gun. Since the pad fell off too, I can't find where it ends up.
Do any of you have a schematic or could test and tell me where the resistor ends so that I can solder a new one? It's the one in the left lower corner of the picture.

Maybe @Slater could test it, since if I'm not mistaken he's used to disassembly this DAP

Thanks everybody

I can do my best to help you. How do I determine where it ends?

Well, that's where the fun part begins. You have to check if it ends on some grounding (like the SD card slot shielding or... somewhere else. It might be some random pad of an SMD chip somewhere, even on the opposite side of the board.
I know, it's not easy, I'm sorry :triportsad:

After 3 or 4 tries it boots normally.
Otherwise I get strange behavior wen usb charge is connected.
