Fortunately the vocals are as poisonous (in a good way) as it looks. :joy:

Yeah you are right that S tier in the specified transducer is the best rank for that type. But S in iem might not mean it is S in earbuds and vice versa.

For example, if I classified the Koss KSC75 as an earbud instead of headphone it would be in S (or high A+) tier instead of B+.

Since they are apples-to-oranges, I dont like to compare them like that.

Bass boosted neutral and L-shaped sound signatures are quite close but not identical for me.

Bass boosted neutral is...well neutral mids/treble but boosted (quantity) bass.
While L-shaped is where the bass is over both mids/treble (and mids, treble are very close to each other in terms of quantity) but mids/treble might not be neutral.

For something similar to the X6 but in iem form it would be the LZ A7 (Red-Pop) or the Sony XBA-Z5.
Thanks for your impressions, i had assumed, based on reviews, than Sony XBA-Z5 would be a tad more bassy than LZ A7 (even with the most bassy configuration). These two, along with FH3, Ibasso IT00, IMR Opus Mia and TRI I3 are under my radar right now.

The A7 has more sub-bass while the Z5 has more mid-bass. But overall, the Z5 is a bit bassier due to it having less treble quantity.

2020-11-29: Lowered all earbuds ranks by 1 (except the DQSM Turandot which got dropped from B+ to C-) and added the Toneking Dendroaspis Viridis rank S.
Consider it a teaser for my upcoming review of the Viridis.

First impressions on the Toneking Dendroaspis Virids:

Bass is just a typical earbud bass and nothing special.

Mids/treble and especially female vocals however...oh boy, absolutely stunningly good. Very clean and detailed as well, with a holographic soundstage (which I have never experienced with buds before) that is huge in both width/depth.

Technicalities are extremely good as well.

Take these statements with a grain of salt as this is still early impressions: but I think that the Viridis has the best technicalites, mids and treble out of all my buds.
impressions are with foams or without foams?

YES!
My package (Blon BL-01, Yincrow RW-9, Tri Through cables) from AK audio has FINALLY been shipped out to dhl. It only took....20....days.

The Linsoul package with the Shuoer Tape pro hasnt been updated at all (tracking)....hope it is actually moving...

If I am lucky though, my Sony XBA-N3 might come this week since it has arrived in Sweden already.

2020-12-05: Blon Bl-01 review is up https://www.head-fi.org/showcase/blon-bl-01.24799/reviews#item-review-24867

Rank B+

The technicalities of it (details and instrument separation) were the biggest con for my library, where pretty much everything sounded low-res and high quality/mastered files werent any different from lower quality/mastered files.

I enjoyed it much more when I didnt analyze it...now I cant unhear it... :sob:

Next up, Yincrow RW-9. And lets just say that "iem similar bass in an earbud" seems to be Yincrows "house tuning" lol. :joy:

That right there makes it a hard pass for me

yeah, for people like you that already got a ton of other sets I dont see the reason to get the 01....except if you want a backup for your backup for your backup. :joy:

Although it could still be a safer rec than the 03 due to the fit and price. But assuming that you can get a perfect fit with the 03 and mesh mod it, it is completely superior to the 01.

2020-12-05: Added the Yincrow RW-9, rank A+

Well I have spent some time with the RW-9 now and honestly I think the X6 is better.

The bass on the RW-9 has more quantity but quality cant keep up and it is bleeding a bit into the mids. Although it does extend a bit lower and also has rumbles a bit more than the X6, but the X6 is faster, tighter and more textured.

Mids are slightly recessed so it gives it a v-shaped sound profile but quality is very similar.

Treble quality is also very similar but has a bit more quantity on the RW-9 However the tonality is still pretty similar because of that bass quantity that balances out the extra treble quantity.

Technicalities are similar on timbre, soundstage, imaging. But details is a bit better on the RW-9 (probably "fake details" with the added treble quantity) while instrument separation is a bit better on the X6 due to the cleaner bass.

Which one do I rec? Both of them are on the same level to me so the only differences are the sound profile (X6 = bass boosted neutral, RW-9 = V-shaped) and the cable that feels/looks better on the RW-9 (although it is quite thin). So based on my own preferences leaning towards the X6 AND because it is half the price (also not discontinued) I rec the X6 over the RW-9.

So is it more mellow/smooth sounding similar to the Final E series? BTW, have you tried the mesh mod on BL-01? Kinda curious about a BL-01 x BL-03 both with the mesh mod.

Yeah, similar to the Final E series or perhaphs the sony house tuning. But without the technicalities on either.

I do suspect that the mesh mod could increase the treble quantity on the 01 and therefore perhaps have some better details. But I am not sure if that driver is as good in quality as the 03 is. As I never nitpicked as hard on the 03´s technicalities as much as on the 01 and I only modded the 03 to help with the bloated bass.
