Indeed lol.And the most intractable name
Thanks for your impressions, i had assumed, based on reviews, than Sony XBA-Z5 would be a tad more bassy than LZ A7 (even with the most bassy configuration). These two, along with FH3, Ibasso IT00, IMR Opus Mia and TRI I3 are under my radar right now.Yeah you are right that S tier in the specified transducer is the best rank for that type. But S in iem might not mean it is S in earbuds and vice versa.
For example, if I classified the Koss KSC75 as an earbud instead of headphone it would be in S (or high A+) tier instead of B+.
Since they are apples-to-oranges, I dont like to compare them like that.
Bass boosted neutral and L-shaped sound signatures are quite close but not identical for me.
Bass boosted neutral is...well neutral mids/treble but boosted (quantity) bass.
While L-shaped is where the bass is over both mids/treble (and mids, treble are very close to each other in terms of quantity) but mids/treble might not be neutral.
For something similar to the X6 but in iem form it would be the LZ A7 (Red-Pop) or the Sony XBA-Z5.
The A7 has more sub-bass while the Z5 has more mid-bass. But overall, the Z5 is a bit bassier due to it having less treble quantity. Thanks for your impressions, i had assumed, based on reviews, than Sony XBA-Z5 would be a tad more bassy than LZ A7 (even with the most bassy configuration). impressions are with foams or without foams?First impressions on the Toneking Dendroaspis Virids:
Bass is just a typical earbud bass and nothing special.
Mids/treble and especially female vocals however...oh boy, absolutely stunningly good. Very clean and detailed as well, with a holographic soundstage (which I have never experienced with buds before) that is huge in both width/depth.
Technicalities are extremely good as well.
Take these statements with a grain of salt as this is still early impressions: but I think that the Viridis has the best technicalites, mids and treble out of all my buds.
With full foams.impressions are with foams or without foams?
The technicalities of it (details and instrument separation) were the biggest con for my library, where pretty much everything sounded low-res and high quality/mastered files werent any different from lower quality/mastered files.
yeah, for people like you that already got a ton of other sets I dont see the reason to get the 01....except if you want a backup for your backup for your backup. That right there makes it a hard pass for me
2020-12-05: Blon Bl-01 review is up https://www.head-fi.org/showcase/blon-bl-01.24799/reviews#item-review-24867
Rank B+

I enjoyed it much more when I didnt analyze it...now I cant unhear it...
Next up, Yincrow RW-9. And lets just say that "iem similar bass in an earbud" seems to be Yincrows "house tuning" lol.
Yeah, similar to the Final E series or perhaphs the sony house tuning. But without the technicalities on either. So is it more mellow/smooth sounding similar to the Final E series? BTW, have you tried the mesh mod on BL-01? Kinda curious about a BL-01 x BL-03 both with the mesh mod.
