bought im03 recently. any recommendations on dap to pair with this iem?

The Opus#1 is, to my ears, the best sounding DAP in the mid-tier range. And it pairs wonderfully with the IM03.

The X5iii did well with this IEM also. But I find the sound of the Opus significantly better.

currently im using lotoo paw 5000 and it got hiss

try setting your lotoo paw to low impedance, maybe it help. I read somewhere that im03 like low impedance DAP (below 1om iirc).

I used to have hissing problem too (micro second) on my 2nd hand IM03 when i just got it but it goes away after like 3 month (usage: 2-3 hour per week). I did not ask the seller on the hours he put into it, maybe it is not burned in, I'm not sure why either.

I also bought the 1More Triple Driver recently..... the E40 also has better sub-bass extension.

Forget what I said here, I did a further comparison and thought the Triples had more of a kick in the sub-bass. The E40 at first sounds quite punchy but after some time with it I think it is more mid-bass focused. I tried the LS70 again yesterday and my impressions of it are still much the same - better sub-bass extension than the E40 and possibly IM70 (didn't get to do a direct comparison), but sounded rather veiled at the top - it also sounds like the lower mids are more forward than upper mids this time around.

After getting the HDC1 cable yesterday I am now able to do a more direct comparison of the IM70 with the E40. However I only brought Philips SHE3590 tips on my IM70 - these tone down the mid-bass and brighten up the highs a bit. Generally I think the stock AT tips are dark-sounding with the IM70 and some other IEMs I've used them on.  Trying the SH3490 tips on the E40 had a similar effect but I thought the IM70 had more sub-bass, though it seems to bleed a bit more into the mid-bass whereas the E40 sounds cleaner overall. The E40 sounds more airy even with the stock tips.

TL:DR: IM70 more sub-bass, smoother highs and fluid, forward midrange. E40 emphasis on mid-bass, upper mids, better treble extension and more open soundstage.

Hi everyone,

I really like the ATH-IM02 but with the stock tips or Spinfits it doesn't isolate enough for using outdoors and in the subway. When I try with the included Comply tips, the sound gets drastically muffled. Does anyone also experience this? I have used Comply foams and Shure olives with other IEM's like Shure and Westone and that did not happen. If you've experienced this, did you solve it somehow?

Thanks!

Does anyone know of an online store that sells quality braided cables for the ATH-IM series and ships to Europe? I find the stock cable too microphonic with the tips I'm using.

Thanks.

Thanks.

I had the same issue, and never ended up finding one.  I looked at the ones from lunashops, but heard that the quality was poor and the shipping long :frowning2:

@qsk78 has pointed out null-audio.com. They have cables for the ATH-IM and A2DC. More expensive than lunashops, I guess that's the price of quality. The biggest concern for me is the shipping time and customs fee, but there seems to be no alternative than importing from Asia.

the housing connector for my im03 broken cos im stupid. is it possible to change to mmcx?

maybe you can try to re-casing it. aliexpress sell the case, don't know if it will fit the im03. (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2pcs-Housing-Shell-Crust-For-Audio-Technica-ATH-IM50-IM70-IM50-IM01-IM02-IM03-IM04-Earphone/32623724802.html?ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_2_10065_10068_10136_10137_10138_10060_10062_10141_10056_126_10055_10054_10059_10099_10103_10102_10096_10148_10147_10052_10053_10050_10107_10142_10051_10143_10084_10083_10119_10080_10082_10081_10110_10111_10112_10113_10114_10078_10079_10073_10070_10123_10120_10124-10120,searchweb201603_9,afswitch_1_afChannel,ppcSwitch_5,single_sort_0_default&btsid=3bae67a2-fe06-4be6-9bfd-4dd28558ec85&algo_expid=e4371979-e0a7-4f87-baf5-ffd5c2730751-31&algo_pvid=e4371979-e0a7-4f87-baf5-ffd5c2730751) dont know if it will fit and im03.
