And here I was thinking that the X5 would sound brighter than the X3ii.

To be fair, I spent very little time with the X3ii before I upgraded to the X5 Classic. Then I spent about a month with the X5>IM04 together. Remembering now, that pairing could reach claustrophobic levels when the song was also very warm in tone.

Is there a huge difference between im03 and the im0 in terms of sound quaility

By "im0" do you mean IM04?

There is no discernible difference in quality between the 03 and 04. The added driver in the 04 is used for extra bass, and it's tuned much darker. The IM03 has quite a lot of bass already, and is tuned for just warm of neutral. The 03 has a lot more air to the presentation. It breathes better.

Yeah I meant im04.

Are the im01 not worth buying because I don't hear anybody talking about those

I've owned the im01 for a long time. I think it's a good little headphone I'm very happy with it it has a Warm Neutral kind of sound it's clean sounding with smooth treble it has a well-filled out low end for a single balanced armature depending on how much you can get it for I think it's a good Buy

I has demo a im02 im03 and im04 for a brief munite myself, im04 is noticeable biggest sound and dark, make a live music sound organic and lifelike, but I prefer im02 and im03 better for more neutral and analyzing.

IM03 is NOT an analytical earphone. It's a pleasure listening earphone.

Thank you all for posting more about the im04. I really appreciate it.

Im04 sounded biggest? I kinda like the way that sounds.

I suggest you also look seriously into the Earsonics SM64. I was in negotiations for a set when I decided to go all out and buy the Angie, instead.

I may still get the SM64 if I come across a good deal. It's said to be outstanding.

I think CKR9 and CKR10 is good alternative to IM series too, I heard that CKR9 Bass is beat that of IM70 while maintain a Clarity of IM02 too.
I not have audition myself thought.

Isn't the s-em6 the step up from the sm64? I though I remember reading that somewhere.

I've been considering everything under the sun. I want something with at least 4 drivers. Can't decide if I want a more flat signature or if I want some flavor to it....

The Velvet is the direct step up from the SM64. I haven't read a lot about the S-EM6. It may be the next step after the Velvet.

Don't get too hung up on driver count. It makes less of a difference than you may think, once you go passed 3.
