Found this in the mail. Sounded weird at first so I then noticed the right bass boost was 30% open but the left side bass boost was closed. Left screw is stripped and sounds like it needs to be burned in.
Just a heads up to those looking to buy used ASG 2.5's; they seem to be easy to counterfeit. It seems fairly easy to remove the 2.5 faceplate and install an earpiece from another ASG model. Like a 2.5 faceplate with a forte earpiece. Or removing the valuable 14.2mm DD and replacing it with another.
The used 2.5's I purchased don't have the serial number on the earpiece, and there are obvious tool marks on the screws. The face plates are slightly different in the red color, and one looks much newer than the other. They sound and fit slightly different then my new 2.5's with the serial number. Of course the owner swears he was the only owner and they have never been serviced.
I emailed Aurisonics to see if all ASG 2.5's should have the serial number, I haven't received a reply yet. For right now, you may want to be weary of buying a used 2.5 without a serial number.
My red pair has no serial numbers, I sent it back to aurisonic for a repair on the bass dial for the left monitor and they didn't say anything about it being counterfeit.

The red ones are probably fine since the 2.5 is the only model with the clear red I believe. It's the black ones you might have to worry about since there are several other models with the same black earpiece. I think the Forte and Harmony have the mmcx connection though.
After seeing the tool marks on the screws on the used set I bought without serial numbers, it was obvious they were opened up at some point. I have not confirmed that mine are counterfeit, they may be fine. I don't want to waste any time opening them up or sending them back to Aurisonics.
There is the possibility that the components can be switched very easily, so just be careful. There may not be any fakes out there, but it can be done easily.

Let's not panic folks, I have 6 Aurisonics ASG series sets and not a hint of trouble in any of them.
I have it on authority from Andy from Aurisonics that a driver transplant is impossible due to fitment in the shells. The ASG series has shells so tightly fitted that opening them will destroy them.
The older 15mm driver has a different fitment compared to the newer 14.2mm driver and there is no way to retrofit except a complete shell overhaul.
Fitting a 14.2mm driver and two armatures in the size of the 2.5 is neither easy or simple and besides there are no known records of fake Aurisonics so until we have concrete evidence, let's not get swept away in paranoia.
I'm no basshead like some of the other esteemed members on here, but I run mine at 25% open and it provides more than enough bass to keep me grinning while not overpowering the mids and high end.
