I see what you mean, but I've seen way worse on even more expensive gear (not just headphones). That simply wouldn't bother me, and it certainly doesn't look like a structural problem - just a little cosmetic glitch.

Just dropping in to say that my Q's fell.. again... for the 17th time now.

Most of my headphones would have broken by now but this one's a soldier!

I guess I should stop nitpicking. If my previous post came across as bitter, that was not my intention. In fact I like it so much that I got another pair, a black one, as I figured the black would hide any cosmetic imperfections better. Now that I had the chance to closely compare the two color variations, I am definitely keeping the black version It's probably due to the color and the matte finish, but it feels more taut.

After i found the best amp for me even the LCD3\HE560\ HD800 wont change my Q701 now (okay not sure about the 800, still havent heard them with good amping)

Some of you might remember me talking about me listening to my Q701 with an HTC One M9 smartphone. It did do very well with the Q701, but I got the LG V10 October 30th and its even better with the Q701. The ESS DAC and amp are beastly and definitely do the Q701 justice. 30 to 35 out of 75 for the volume gets them to my desired listening level of about 75 to 80 db average. Sounds very neutral with tons of detail and a top end like I've never heard before.
