Can anyone report what sounds better with the q701, C5 or schiit vali/magni?

Also, how does q701 sound with C5 bass boost on both original q701 and bass mod q701, thanks.

The Cayin C5 or JDS Labs C5?

Between the Magni and Vali, most people tend to prefer the Q with the Vali.

Out of the three I've got de Magni and the Cayin C5 and I prefer the Q's with the C5.

This may be a weird question but can someone describe to me what it's like inside the q701's soundstage if I were to listen to ambient music?

It's very realistic for it's price.  I've actually taken them off out of instinct before, because my mind wanted to make sure nothing was coming from outside of the headphones.
If only my laptop fan wasn't so loud.

That sounds amazing. I just recently tried out HD800 for the first time and was instantly dumbfounded by the surround sound lol of course I'm not expecting anything close to that from the Qs but it made me crave soundstage.

Are the reports on weak center imaging referring to solos where an instrument or vocalist should be right in front of you or is that part of the soundstage bad in general?

Guess nothing's perfect.. I'm still insterested in giving these a try.

I adore them.  They're also the cheapest of the updated version of the classic mid-fi trio.
While I don't really have anything to compare them to (Except the M100, but these outclass them so much), I will say that it sounds beautiful.  When I first heard them, I honestly cried for a bit.  Some people have trouble with the bass being too quiet, but it has great definition so I've never had any trouble with it.  Eventually, I noticed that the bumps were a horrid choice on the part of the designers, and I decided to always keep 2 layers of bubble wrap between my precious skull and those bumps.
Other than that, they're pretty comfy as long as you like the velour pads.
What would your alternatives be, btw?

EDIT: When I got them, they seemed a little too bright , but I got accustomed to them pretty quickly.

As long as the bass has great extension I'm solid. I like bright headphones but only if it isn't the sharp painful kind.

I was looking at a bunch as far as akg I'm thinking the q701, k7xx, or k612. Also, he-400i but that's as much as I'm willing to spend. Soundmagic HP100 as well but I ruled it out on account of it's ear cup depth.
