As per skylab's recommendation I replaced my RCA 6AS7G's with Tung Sol 5998's and was immediately happy with my purchase. The RCA's seem to be very warm and tubey where as the Tung Sol are similar, but much more articulate and spaced. Spaced being the placement of the instruments improved greatly. They do still carry a little bit of the warmth but definitely offer a much more detailed and SMOOTH listening experience. I'm still waiting on some Tung Sol 6SJ7GT's as Skylab said they are hard to find....he didn't lie.

Congrats on acquiring the superb Amp! Did you get the new 2009 version or the older one (with preamp out)?

Yes, DV337s with preamp output are older model. I have heard that they are sweet for vocal as preamp, using speaker system. I have yet to try myself.

there is no such thing as a best tube. that depends on your personal preference and gear.

Guys, i need advice..just got my..'oh my god heavely' sounding he-500's..lolz..
I can get a 337 second hand for s superprice from a friend...any advices if it pairs well with these phones..i read on headphonia that it pairs perfectly with a lafigaro 339....thats same amp right? What tubes i need? As i need at least 2w..and the 337 is 2times 1watt right?..and another question...
i just found a luxman D-105u cd player.in my storage..lolz...it has a tube preamp inside..2tubes glow up nicely behind the glass...am burning the he500 directly connected to the phones out on the luxman...sound is soooo full...bought it 15 years ago...only used it 4 months..tubes are as new...damn..i need to sell it..any ideas what to ask for it...it weigns a ton! Lol..
Anyway..this thread is very intesting...thanks for ur help in advance guys..

Have been reading through this thread and no one mentions the bendix 6080wb especially with graphite blocks..i have a pair on their way to me..to complement my tung sol 6sj7gt mesh plates...anyone have expererience with those bendix..acording to seller its one of the best sounding tube.

Maybe, maybe not. But do read up on tubes and check prices in tube stores, not on ebay, just not to get ripped off.

Do you guys recommend the Bendix 6080wb for the darkvoice 337? They go in the rear on in the front?

Which tube would you recommend pairing them on the DV 337?
