Agreed. It's like when i was in high school( 88-92), you wasn't popular unless you wore a certain brand of clothes or shoes or hung out with certain people. I think mainstream gear is more of a fashion statement then anything. A complete joke IMO.

If people would do some googling before buying headphones the beats would def lose a lot of customers. the problem is getting people to google about headphones lol

I am in high school. Popularity means what? Oh yeah, nothing. Can't really put that on a college application, can you?

People skills. After you're out of college, it's all about your connections. Most people don't talk about headphones.

People skills and popularity are two separate entities I think. Yes, I have friends but I don't adjust myself to be likeable or amiable to everybody.
So many just seem to stay with the status quo and do not educate themselves on anything outside of school. Also I find that kids aren't very polite.
People skills? How would one become successful as an engineer then? XD

I am ranting just a bit (about nothing) due to a lack of sleep so sorry if my words don't really form complete thoughts or if I talk in circles.
I just see high school as an obstacle between childhood and the real world. Being "popular" doesn't matter, it's more about basic things like extracurricular activities, grades, and learning how to communicate.

Geez my post was a simple analogy to mainstream gear and why the " Average Consumer" buys the stuff. I guess it went over a few heads. Good luck people.

Haha, I was just thinking that. Then I thought: "OH NO, SOMEONE STATED AN OPINION ON THE INTERNET. LET ME DEFEND MYSELF!"
No one can ever be wrong on the internet. XD

SORRY, i just saw the last few posts and just posted LOL

Actually, the university i went to was ranked third in the world for engineering, but that still doesn't guarantee success. Their graduation speeches were quite depressing. It's all about connections at times like these, even to grad school.

Wearing Beats doesn't get you popularity, but being "fashionable" will make people somehow like you more =/

Anyways, I don't wear Beats LOL I do wear the Turbine PRO Gold or ATH ESW10JPN which look good and sound nice. Wear a Grado or a Sennheiser HD280 and you look like a hobo. just a warning LOL
