Actually it was a gelled off camera Nikon SB-26. Nice guess, though, and thanks for the comment.

Nice winter shot.

But, is it just my eyes fooling me because of the shape of the far riverbank? It seems like the horizon line is tilted ever so slightly to the right.

At smaller sizes it sure is noticeable. For the love of me, I can't say if my camera was tilted or if it's the effect of the river bank both going into the distance and also getting wider (which it does).

So... I have no idea. Perhaps it's a bit of both.

Google Earth comes handy sometimes. You are right, the river bank is widening and because of the acute angle of shot it would appear as tilted horizon even with your camera in perfect plumb.

@Fatcat: What a cute cat in the first picture. Reminds me of my cat when it's in that pose (The "Rub my tummy... I dare you" pose).
