They are pretty close, but I give the edge to the Air Tight because most people can't pronounce Jadis correctly

...and, I agree with Peter. Without hearing the Air Tight or the Jadis, that Zanden set-up was nothing less than sterling!

Word!
If possible, the Jadis looks even more stunning than the Air Tight.

Afrikane's pics are like centerfolds. They're just missing the crease and staples in the middle. It's audio p**n without the sticky pages.

I look forward to his pics more than the new Absolute Sound I subscribe to.

My current setup (soon to change again).

Denon Pro CD player - this thing is wicked! I am hearing stuff that I didnt knew existed on those silvery discs...

Pro-Ject RPM9X t/t with Ortofon R MC B and PhonoboxII - stunning analogue performance!

Headphone amp banged togheter from stray parts around the workshoppe. Got a slight hum but overall good response from this "bomb"... he-he!

Miguel -- have you had the opportunity to hear the Air Tight ATM300 / K1000 combo?

So far the most breathtaking K1000 system I've head was the Zanden setup at HeadFest, which was startlngly beautiful to hear.

Afrikane -- The Apache also gets remarkable sound out of the Sony R10, which sounds not only lush and seductive, but is much more controlled and better-defined than usual, with the Apache. Hearing the R10 with the Apache is the first time I actually really enjoyed those phones (which I've heard through many different amps in the past).

No, and I do not want to. No money left!

Well, my $40 transport from eBay showed up, so I have my budget-fi home rig pretty well squared away...
  1. Denon DCD-815 transport
  2. SMC EZ-Stream wireless transport
  3. Denon DA-500 DAC
  4. Outlaw Audio interconnects
  5. Millett Hybrid w/ discrete diamond buffers/STEPS/TungSol 12FK6
  6. DIY Woodied HF-1

The Denon DA-500 DAC is great because it also serves as a digital switchbox, with 3 optical and 2 coaxial inputs, as well as an optical and coaxial output.

Only things left to address are some minor mods to the DA-500 DAC (opamps, caps), add an optical out to the SMC (parts arrived today) and recable the HF-1s.

The Jadis did a more than creditable job with the K1000. It just lacked that special 300B magic that works wonders on the AKGs. I will be reassigning this amp to drive a Taket system in the near future.

Kane, amongst your forest of exotica, the woody headphone stand stands-out the most (excuse the pun

)!! Where did you get that from?! And the sight of the legendary Omega just "lying around" is too much for my head...
