To those that voted DT990. Damn those are painful to the ears. You guys must have ear shields or something to like them.

Mr. Donunus.... please let me just analyze that statement and point out the elephant in the room....... the M50 number one vote? U wanna talk about fatigue... Fo-sho more so than the 990's IMO.

Unless my earshields only work on the 990. :notes::notes::beginner::ear::ear:

The m50 was also painful for me but not as much as my old dt990s. But then again I had the most painful version imaginable... The 32ohm version.

Lol that's funny cuz I have the 32ohm. Mine are the premium version but I doubt it makes a difference or much of one. I guess that goes to show that we are all different in our perception of sound.

The real unfortunate thing is this guy who has been acting like he is about to make a proposal of marriage to a set of cans, for sure is not going to make a choice now that we just had this conversation.... :joy::joy::joy:

hahaha he should just buy something. Anyways, about the m50 vs dt990... I was using a different source and amp during the different times I had them and can only say that the 990 was more painful because it literally gave me tinnitus within 5 minutes of use while the m50s took more volume and longer listening to make my ears ring.

Thats crazy because I get the exact opposite. I guess source could have something to do with it but I'm now thinking that the premium must be different because I do not experience that at all.

Did you have the premium's? I din't know they made the regular ones in 32ohm.

IMO M50s have better bass impact, but the bass extension and deepness is better on the DT990s.  Also, the bass on the M50 lacks control compared to the DT990s.  I have to agree with Doc-Holiday, the M50s are more fatiguing due to that fact alone.  One can argue that the DT990s are overly bright, which cause fatigue, however I personally did not think they were bright at all until I began to listen to much darker headphones like the HD650 and LCD-2.

Yah I had the premium. Don't forget the tendency for beyer for the same model to sound different from batch to batch.

...which is why you should evaluate the merits of each headphone. People who own a particular headphone are going to say they're the "best" choice. Personally, I didn't love the DT770, and highly doubt you'd like them as much as a DT990 or DT880. The DT990 is more trebly (I think. I never heard the DT880 and DT990 side by side, but the 990 seemed to have more treble), has more bass, and more fun in general. The DT880 is more neutral. Honestly, I'd for sure take off the DT770 PRO for sure--they aren't as technically good.

Again, just get something relatively neutral and EQ. You don't know what you want, and nobody can actually help you.

I think it's hilarious that people keep humoring this kid. He's been talking about the same 3 headphones for the last month and a half. 770,880 and 990. He even gives some guy his expert advice that the HD600 are "pretty good". Check his post history.

Seriously son. Just buy the 770 because you want bass and be done with it. One day when you are all grown up and get a job you can buy more. U might even get some from santa if you ask.
