[Poll] Best Headphone's Under $200

They are even better than the HE6 to me :) I've owned the dt880s too and I prefer the dt250-250 to them by far. The dt880s have thin mids and peaky highs but have slightly tighter bass than the dt250-250ohm but the latter has better mids sounding more like a senn hd600/650 hybrid in that aspect IMO plus its a closed headphone too at the same time. I really love them and find them to be outstanding and very underrated.

What's about Ultrasone HFI 780? It's in your price range, found it on Amazon US. Just asking, only sets I've tested from your Poll are AKG, Shure and Sennheiser ones. Sennheiser did impress me, liked it a lot but it is flat sounding, you feel like you are in a little box while listening to it. No soundstage.

AKG and Shure were ones of the worst headphones I've ever listend to (the models you listed), cold sound, neutral, analytic, everything I hate.

For a know cans, I'll go with Sennheiser, but since I haven't gone trhough everything yet, I pass. I'm searching one too dude, I'll follow your thread.

IMO the hfi780s are okay. I only listened to them for a few minutes though during a meet but they were nothing special. The shure 840s are boring and lifeless for me while being slightly boomy. M50... Recessed mids and a boom---tish sound. Not for people that like neutral sound despite what they were supposedly marketed for. DT990... super bright and fatiguing. I would get tinittus after every 5 minutes of use... disclaimer: I owned the non-pro 32ohm version.

HD25-1 II, sounds sort of gradoish, slightly less bright but they roll off fast above 10khz they sound dry and lack air. Too aggressive for me and I hear typical closed cup colorations.

Dude...you know you can make your own thread right? Threadjacking is not cool. But yes, thanks to the S-Logic stuff.

And I totally forgot about the DT250! I second that. The DT880 might seem to have more detail with its brighter sound, but the DT250 will sound more pleasant.  I also forgot about the DT150, but I haven't heard those I can really only tell you to do some research on them.

the devon D2k's are to expensive for me, there $315 new on amazon, while the Dt 880's are $230 new..

but there is a pair of D2k's for $215 in "acceptable" condition but the seller has 0% positive feedback... not gonnu risk it..

I saw a pair for $200 in our for sale section on this website a day or two ago, check those out.

OK, i have both and i can tell you the DT880 is the best if you love neutral balanced sound, the DT990 is more fun sound but they can be fatiguing sometimes. forget about the 32 and 80 ohm, they're very close in efficiency to the 250ohms, and when you upgrade your amp the 250 will be far superior. one thing so you don't feel sad about the denons, beyerdynamic headphones scales much more than the denons.

I've only heard the 80ohm version and remember liking it a lot. Sounds like I need to give the 250ohm version a try.
