If you have a Mac, you could use Bluetooth Explorer app to change the codec to a different one that suits you best!
What do you mean by that?
e.g.: if i pay Sony for the codec, i could copy it to this bluetooth cable and would automagically work with an LDAC enabled phone (e.g.: android oreo) ?
is it possible to get hold of that LDAC codec at all?
Or are you planning to create / sell an LDAC capable version of this product?

No. On the Mac, you can disable AptX and enable AAC over bluetooth using a developer utility called Bluetooth Explorer, if you wish to compare between the codecs the module offers.

Picked up a Copper / Silver hybrid with MMCX. Been using it with the Ibasso IT03. I'm actually very impressed, it provides ample power and the sound is pretty clean for Bluetooth. Will post a more detailed report when I get a chance.

Would love to hear your impressions. I've been looking at other wireless options, but judging by my "Too Soon?" thread, it really is too soon. The Beoplay E8s sound promising, but still have issues. Zolo Libertys might do the business, but nobody who's tried them can talk about them yet. These, though, would allow me to use my IE80s with their custom sleeves - something that no wireless IEM offers yet. So if they sound good, and perform well, I may be interested. One thing I'm really interested in is whether there's any lag on the encoding. I watch TV on my commute a lot, and except for the B&O E8s, literally every wireless IEM seems to have an irritating lag when playing video....

What is the output impedance? I'm guessing it won't pair well with low impedance IEMs like the SE846?

< 1ohm. Will pair fine with them.

"The Exo is quite the interesting beast. Combining the luxury of custom cables with the utility and convenience of Bluetooth, it’s not something too many other companies have attempted.... So if you’re an audiophile looking to go wireless, but don’t want to give up your current detachable-cable IEMs, definitely give Plussound’s Bluetooth cables a try!" - Head-fier @Cinder on the new Exo bluetooth cable

Sooooo.....my review sample Exo BT (150 USD version) arrived the other day and I've been spending some time with them.

First impressions are positive. Pairing was quick and easy as tends to be the norm for modern Bluetooth gear. Hold the power button until the light flashes red and blue, search for ‘plusSound’ on your player’s available devices list, and select it. Done. I also found that reconnecting to an already paired device is exceptionally quick, a couple seconds max. Much faster than most of the dedicated BT iems I've tried, and the ADVANCED Model 3's Bluetooth module.

Initially I quickly tested three different earphones covering a variety of prices; the budget friendly TinAudio T2 (16 ohms @ 102 dB), the mid-tier Brainwavz B400 (30 ohms @115 dB), and the premium Campfire Audio Polaris (16.8 ohms @ 97.5 dB). The Exo BT had no issues driving any of them, though the T2 required significantly more juice than the other two to reach the same volume. Sound quality on all three was similar to their wired counterparts. The Polaris didn’t lose out on it’s deep bass and vibrant treble. The B400’s amazingly well-layered and imaged sound stage shone through, and the T2’s neutral character wasn’t lost. Micro-details were smoothed over a touch, but not to the extent I was expecting. Today I spent a good deal of time with the Exo BT matched to the MacaW GT600s (16 ohms @ 98 dB) and they sounded stellar. Some of the warmth was cut which really added to their overall sound (silver/reference filters in place).

Any qualms? Yes, actually. Background static, primarily on the T2. The Polaris suffered from a small amount of static too, but it was easily overshadowed once music was playing. The B400 was nearly silent and along with the noiseless GT600s was my preferred pairing. The initial notification sounds are also painfully loud and need to be turned down…a lot. Thankfully, notification volume can be adjusted with the +/- buttons when music isn’t playing.

Minor issues aside, so far I’m enjoying the Exo BT and I can’t wait to spend more time with it paired to my B400. It feels tough, it looks good, and I haven’t run into any connection issues.

And now some pics :)

Got my Poetic Series Red for Sennheiser HD800 today! My first impression is five stars. Build quality is very high: soft-touch receiver, wires finished in red - everything is looked good! Sound is clear and airy, deep layered soundstage at 80% of volume. So, I'm happy, many thanks to Plussound guys!

I have been using my EXO BT cable for about a week and they sound great. Unfortunately the BT connectivity is below average in my experience(Jaybird X2/3, Shure BT Cable, Bose soundsport free). They seem particularly susceptible to interference. Outside they are unusable while my phone is in my pocket and up a bit even when I am holding it in my hand, haven't had this problem with any other BT solutions yet. Inside my house they do alright, but I can't block direct line of sight(that includes my head potentially blocking) on my Pixel phone. This makes makes the cable almost unusable for me on the go.

The range is a bit better on my Surface Pro 2 and on my girlfriends IPhone 7 Plus. It seems that the Pixel also has a subpar Bluetooth antenna. Makes for a bad combo.

How bad is the bluetooth connection on the iPhone? Usable outdoors with phone in jeans pocket?

also, how is the sound compared to the Shure bluetooth cable? Considering one of these to use with my Oriveti New Primacy. They don't need a ton of power, easily driven by an iphone at 60-70%.

I am using them with a pair of Massdrop x Pinnacle PXs iems, which has a 50ohm impedance. I found both cables were able to drive the PXs well beyond by comfort loudness level.

I will more thoroughly test out the iphone connectivity next time I get a chance and post it.
