does the pioneer software just transfer music or can you play music on it frim a computer. i really love the layout.
both look nice
only catch is the 16 hour battery life which is quite low for $500.

apart from the sony zx100, which other player immaterial of price offers longer than 16 hours battery life?

LOL - I am no particular fan of Pioneer, Onkyo, or Sony, but yeah... that remark made me smile, too!

16 hours is pretty good-going for an audiophile DAP, these days, in the general scheme of things, and anyone pointing to Sony DAPs having long battery life should pause for a moment to consider that they are using their proprietary Class-D DAC-Amp chip, which very definitely comes with compromises on sound quality and power output.

Just sayin'...

As far as I'm concerned, a genuine audiophile-performance DAP, in the current marketplace, is doing OK if it exceeds 11 hours duration, and tolerable (albeit not ideal) if it approaches 10 hours.

Any news on the release date? I can't wait for some comparisons between this and the Onkyo.

I just saw one on Amazon for 1K

Someone I know asked Yodobashi akihabara for the Onkyo and they said early December, I don't know why the other thread is locked.

What in the world is going on why on earth did the DP-X1 thread get locked?

Thought the same as well.

Not sure what I might be missing, but the HF DP-X1 thread seems to be up and active - http://www.head-fi.org/t/780642/onkyo-dp-x1-dual-sabre-dacs-balanced-sabre-btl-amp-mqa-dsd-256-android-5/1440#post_12101257
