  1. Pioneer's joined the DAP world with the introduction of the XDP-100R. In from Phileweb is still a little sketchy but it seems to sport the ESS ES9018K2M DAC whilst the amp is 9601K. As expected it supports HiRes up to 11.2MHz DSD. The Android 5.1.1 OS is driven by a quadcore CPU and has a 4.7" with a resolution 1280 × 720 - so it's by no means a small DAP. It weighs about 200g.
There's a 32GB built-in storage but will accept a microSD card (photo seems to show maybe 2 microSD slots?). It has WiFI too and Bluetooth that supports aptX. For those into streaming there seems to be Spotify, TIdal & Deezer.
Except for the top handle bumper, I can't help but feel the design has been some foundation from the AK series but just volume on the left, rather than right. No price has been shared on the news yet but sounds like an interesting player. Fingers crossed it'll be priced competitively.

Interesting I wonder how it will compare to the Sony ZX2...

Dual micro SDXC with 32GB internal storage, that means up to 432GB
MQA is icing on the cake as well, let's see when TIDAL and Meridian are ready to launch

I"m kinda glad that we have more Japanese brands in the DAP game rather than just Sony. Aside from Jude, I wonder if there's anyone else from Head-Fi at the IFA who managed to give this a listen. In Japan our next show would be late October so it'll be awhile before we get any further info.

I am not sure what the point of the handle is. It also seems a bit large but otherwise the design is nice.

No idea but sure seems to be the style in Japan - Sony PHA-1, Pioneer XPA-700, etc. like that handle/bumper thing.....
or a design change to avoid litigation.

    DAP looks like AK240 :)

Subbed! Hope its not as expensive as ak240. The model indeed similiar with ak240, but i really like it! Less futuristic and less "polygon".

The brick has nice look but lacks output power -_-  Teac HA-P90SD has 170mW with 32 Ohm load

Wow it's pretty massive. I mean I kinda had a guess when the screen is 4.7" but visually next to the AK100...
