An interesting experiment… old iPhone 6S as a digital transport/Roon endpoint > Dethonray Honey H1 > A&K PA10 > UM Mest MkII.

Why? Because the Honey is a quirky little device with a jumpy volume pot. It sounds buttery smooth though. The PA 10 adds class A richness and body to the sound with way better volume control. Astell&Kern has really come up with a winner with the PA 10. It’s made just about everything I’ve paired it with sound better (for my preferences, ymmv of course).

What I have come to like about this thread is, as much as there is TOTL gear being peacocked, there is also an appreciation of older and/or lower tier gear still being honoured with ear-time. Also a bit of the old school 'this feeding that' stacking.

Agreed 1000%, for me the steps are not nearly as large as some claim but for the right coin you can always improve a little
