An interesting experiment… old iPhone 6S as a digital transport/Roon endpoint > Dethonray Honey H1 > A&K PA10 > UM Mest MkII.

Why? Because the Honey is a quirky little device with a jumpy volume pot. It sounds buttery smooth though. The PA 10 adds class A richness and body to the sound with way better volume control. Astell&Kern has really come up with a winner with the PA 10. It’s made just about everything I’ve paired it with sound better (for my preferences, ymmv of course).

this is the way...pairing a good transport, dac and amp together is a good Frankestack!

What I have come to like about this thread is, as much as there is TOTL gear being peacocked, there is also an appreciation of older and/or lower tier gear still being honoured with ear-time. Also a bit of the old school 'this feeding that' stacking.

very true! There is alot of older gear on here, that holds up, that needs to be used and shown off...

My preferred combo at my office for a while now is really similar with a Sony NW-WM1A set as BT LDAC receiver and the US version JVC Drop HA-FW1800 ... I could find some very good comfort and optimize sound quality with some Comply Foam Tips (they need to be hot to seal perfectly, so every time, 15 minutes is needed to set them perfectly in my ears, but then it's impressive)

I didn't use daytime my other DAPs and IEMs since I bought them !!!

The flat Letshuor cable I saved worked well for the U12T. But an IEM this wonderful deserves its own pretty cable. Decided to go with the Null Audio Lune MKVII. And upon request, they did a blue finish on the metal instead of rose gold. Now the combination feels as good as it looks and as good as it sounds
