Does the ATH-M50 really takes the advantage of amplification?

P.S. This hobby is so addicting -- sorry about your wallet. Just in advance.

From what I've tried, no. I used an E5 for the bass boost (which, obviously made a difference) and noticed no difference with an E11 (except with bass boost of course. I found the M50 to be lacking) (and I used the E11with the M50, DT770, and HD25-ii in fact, to no avail). LoD'd it. Might be because I have semi-damaged hearing (high frequency but low tinnitus) but I don't think so..

Currently have a remolded ES3X by UM but only using my Samsung Stratosphere's lineout.. Really hissy if nothing's on. Don't know what kind of DAP to get (DAP + amp is too much to carry around as a high schooler IMO. Was already a pain in the ass with an E11 + iPod Touch). And since I refitted one ear while keeping the other, the colors (red wine) are a shade off from each other and one sits perfectly flush to my ear while the other is a bit larger and caves inward

No good place to take a picture right now.

The TMA-1 is easily my choice for Electronic music around 200 bucks.

with this set usually listening to minimal techno, glitch, and other electronics, like Alva Noto, Byetone, Kangding Ray, Clark, Aphex Twin, Pan Sonics, Demdike Stare, Andy Stott, ...
They sound so extremely balanced on the TMA-1. The treble has enough sparkle, but not piercing. Excellent PRaT, incredible but controlled bass punch, energy, forwardness, decent soundstage and instrument separation, they are all there.

Thanks for another strong opinion. I see listed two variants of TMA-1 - this and another one with Studio mark. Interested in differences.
Oh, also, most importantly - are they comfortable? As from pictures all AIAIAI's seems like virtually rendered to me.

They completely lack padding on the top. It's just rubber. Some find it uncomfortable, but I wore them for 8+ hours with no issues. I found them very comfortable.

Haven't heard the Studio as they're less portable than the regular ones.

Oh, and the clamping for is relatively low. I wear glasses and had no issues there either.

I think for the Fuze other than Fiio there's no other aftermarket LODs, so when I had the Fuze I modded the Fiio LOD to make it more compact and slightly better sounding.  Basically you take out the factory caps and replace them.  Even just replacing the cable and using a right angle plug makes it easier to carry.

I found ClieOS's article helpful when I did mods.

I've seen those. Type sansa fuze lod into ebay's search bar and you'll get similar results.
Problem is I need a good reason to spend $35-$40 on a 5 inch wire.

I would love to see a right angle lod for the fuze.

Completely agree, they're expensive. Best to just close your eyes and accidently press the 'pay button' :p

Haha, I always do this, whenever I buy something online. I always feel I could be putting my money somewhere more useful.

Then I actually listen to the gear I just bought and wonder what the hell I was ever thinking!!
