Given that the Little Dot Micro+ was introduced in 2006, and sold for about 10% of that price, I'd say no. :)

Mat i ask what you did to that ie8 at the earpieces? I also wan't to do something similar to my RE-262, it is very prone to breaking.

Those appear to be the ear-guides that come with the IE8. I bought mine used, and they didn't come with it. Not sure if they sell them separately though. I think the GR07, Phonak PFE, and Soundmagic PL50 come with them as well.

How does the ZEN sound?

Average, like the next player. However, it's the only one at the moment with APT-X, which does sound a lot better than regular A2DP Bluetooth, almost like a wired connection.

Usability of the Zen is worse than a Hifiman, Hisoundaudio, or the other usual suspects - it's an incredibly bad device regarding usability, handling, and processor speed. Definitely among the worst players I ever tried.

Finally got this put together today.

  1. iPod Touch 2G 16GB
  2. DLO SoftShell case
  3. Fiio L1 LOD
  4. Fiio E11 headphone amp
  5. Ultimate Ears Super.Fi 3 Live
  6. Fiio RC-UE1 cable

The E11 and iPod are attached together using 3M Command picture hanging strips, which allow me to separate the two at will, and also allows me to avoid the silicon band method of bundling the two together, which I am not a fan of (especially with a touchscreen device). The strips also allow enough space between the amp and the iPod that I'm able to turn the volume knob without the LOD getting in the way of my fingers.

I plan on getting a Fiio L9 LOD to replace the L1 for the sake of streamlining the package some, and I also plan on later upgrading the Super.Fi 3's to TripleFi 10's and getting a custom reshell. Right now I'm happy with the setup as it is, doubly so that the Fiio RC-UE1 actually works (I received it today, and it was the last piece of the puzzle) and is a vast improvement reliability-wise to the stock cables.

Wasn't my photo. Like I said, they come with the IE8, but I bought mine used and the original owner lost them.

The FiiO cable and plug look humongous. I've never seen it in a real-life photo before, just in press shots. I'm having second thoughts about getting it.

Both the L3 and L9 are more compact than the L1 (pictured) LOD... (assuming you are referencing the cable length.)

Here is the L3 - the L9 with a Right angle is even smaller.
