Thats not what you do while grocery shopping... you should be hunting down the single mothers...

So true. My idea of a "portable rig" is something you'd use while grocery shopping.  In my case, it is a Clip+/Clip Zip and lightweight open-backed headphones....pause the tunes, and I can speak with the cashier without having to remove an IEM.

It's the 1998 model (first ever) and it's by SAEHAN - I believe Eiger Labs made another version, but this is definitely the first one

So, how does this "vintage" mp3 player sound?

Man, I remember the first mp3 player I ever had, was the psp I got back around 2005 as I been used to using portable cd players.  It really is an excellent multi-media device, still have a couple of the original launch versions.

This really shows how far the portable audio market has come in the last 13 years. From 64 MB to 160 GB.
Technology these days is really an incredible (good & bad) achievement of man-kind.

My first mp3 player, which i bought in 2005/06, had 256 MB and cost about 35Euro/50$.That was quite a lot of money at the time.
But now, you can get 4 GB for half the price. It really is fascinating if you think about it.
