I was talking about putting a cf card in a rockboxed iriver. I know that a faster write speed will write faster to your device, but the read speed i don't know what difference it makes.

yeah well certainly my CF modded iriver starts in a matter of less than 1 second and song access is a bit faster than stock, though not as instant, write speed on the other hand is quite slow. its well worthwhile doing though, battery life is incredibly long and having startup that quick is pretty cool.

Thanks for the information, Qusp. I would like It to start up quicker and have a longer battery life, it just comes down to cost. On Ebay, a 64gb SSD is around $200, and a 32gb SDHC is around $85. Do you know anywhere I could get solid state memory cheaper?

When you say Solid State memory, is it for your computer as in Solid State Drive. Or, is it a camera thing?

Nanashi, it is like a camera thing. The SDHC are what cameras usually use, and the SSD that fit in the Irivers on Ebay might be for laptops but they fit in the Iriver H140 (I am not sure about the H120, because it only mentions the H140.)

Just a couple of images of my current rig: iPod calssic 120GB with all HQ AIFF files, Graham Slee Voyager (a really great little amp! ) & a set of ATH M-50s, nice closed cans with a good little bass heavy sound...In 2011, I would really like to notch my transportable rig up with a set of JH16s & A3 amp, along with the Solo from Cypher labs when that becomes available... all I need to do is find the dosh to fund this  little excursion to sound Nirvana !

Alcoholic drinks and their stickers always improve sound quality, of course you have to listen and drink in the same time

Which is to say, really thin, light and devoid of any taste? (Refering to "Budweiser" here, not "American", before I accidentally turn this into a flame war..)

Budweiser is definitely a crappy beer.
