Welcome to Head-fi, boberz3. IMO, the E7 has a nice feature set and is a great match for the Sansa pictured above, but I would recommend upgrading to the Headstage Arrow HE V2 if you can afford it and stand the wait, it's a very good ergonomic match for the iTouch, it's quite versatile and sounds excellent.

My portable rig.. Nothing fancy. At all. Rather limited on funds. Rock/Metal sounds great on it though, IMO.

320KB/s .mp3 > Fuze > L6 > E5 > HD 428.

Not much money for a decent camera either. Haha.

My updated setup! (Added the ibasso T3 recently)

Cowon D2+ > ibasso copper interconnect > ibasso T3 > Grado sr 225 or Head-Direct RE0

Finally, a setup I can appreciate for a long, long time :D

Cool, I have almost the same setup.  D2+ (rockbox'd), T3 amp, REO's or Yuin G2's.  Generic interconnect.  I'm happy with it.  Definitely good enough for portable.

The amp overcomes the limitations of the D2 (bass rolloff & marginal separation), and is plenty strong to power the REO's and G2's.  I'm still trying to find a pouch or small case w/belt clip that'll carry them, and leave the touchscreen exposed.

A few updated snaps since my ALO LOD came in and therefore almost completed my "serious" portable setup. Next on the list is a 4ft custom cable with an 1/8" plug from Zombie_X. I'm currently having to wrap a rubberband around the stock 9ft cable. Not gonna cut it. Of course I'll also have to get a 6ft custom with a 1/4" plug for home use. Neither before a decent desktop AMP/DAC though... Anyone wanna trade a Predator for a Nuforce Icon HDP?

Ignore the E7. If you are ONLY using it as an AMP without the DAC than it is just an E5 (according to a FiiO rep hear on Head-Fi). I doubt the E5 will really improve your SQ, it is really meant to boost the volume on those larger cans.

Like birdman said, it's main purpose is to cure the severe bass rolloff of the cowon, because any amp adds input impedance (so you can cure bass rolloff with an impedance adapter too).
The T3 also reduces stereo cross talk.

As for the sound quality, I have just received it yesterday, so I haven't really put my finger on it yet. I do notice an improvement in the sound though, with a tiny bit of warmth added. For now I will say that the bass has improved (a lot, because of no more rolloff), the mids are warmer, and the highs are more controlled and coherent. They make the grados and the RE0s very pleasing to listen too. The T3 still needs some burn in/listening time. One more comment about this amp - it is damn small. I thought that it would be bigger, but it feels like a mini baby because its so small; and the build quality is very good too, better than the (all plastic) cowon d2+ itself.
