There isnt really any static but a slight electronic interference type of noise. Im only using this setup when doing chores anyhow so the music is usually pumpin and Im not thinking of sound quality, although it does sound pretty good. Im liking it paired with the HJE-900's. Exactly what I would have been using it for, hmmm it will be on down the road before I make this purchase. I'm already displeased by there cord, sheesh.

I dyed a pink case (that came in a 3-pack) with blue dye and the result was this beautiful purple case for my V2 Fuze.

Here's my cheap portable rig....well not too cheap because the 1st gen Ipod Touch cost me $400 back in the day. =(   This is coupled with some Klipsch S2's which sound pretty decent. 
 

 
My home listening rig =   Macbook Pro ==> Optical cable ==> Sony STR-K790 amp ==> Sennheiser HD 595
