I find that the sonical differences between the X Walkman and the diyMod are subtle with the UM3Xs. It's a lot more pronounced with the AD900s.

Pico is hidden beneath the diyMod. With the AD900s, it surely is audio nirvana.

Guys, what's the name of the bracelet-like thing you use to fasten your player onto the amp?

Got a free one from Whiplash Audio but it's a bit big for my diymod-Pico setup. Does anyone know of any adjustable ones by any chance? I'm desperately in need of one. Right now, I'm using black shoe lace as a way to fasten them together.

Thanks.

I love these. I don't find the cans to colored, in fact I pull up the low bass and the high treble on the SONY. It is a joy!

I'm sorry to bring this to you, but they are highly coloured (even before equalizing)

Although there's nothing wrong with that, hehe.

Oh yes, you are absolutely right! I should have said "they are not too colored to my taste"... thank you Sennheiser! And 32 Ohms! Who needs an amp?

That sony packs quite a bunch. Don't worry about amplification

Now that is a good question I'd like to know the answer for. There are people who have both. I read that although there is improvement (you hear of course after shelling out $400 for the X) it is not significant and certainly doesn't worth $400. I would like to hear an honest comparison. Just because the amp is digital, it doesn't meant it's better or worse. I have zero hiss issue with the device with analog amp. Any hiss I have (if any) are in the recordings.
