DjAmTraX.......I agree, the new McIntosh MC452 is a beauty.  I can't wait for mine to be delivered.  Right now my two channel system is down in the studio since the pair of MC275's were sold.  I have a Crown K2 amplifier in my control room rack, but I really don't want to have to unbolt it from that rack and move it into the studio for a week or so.  It just depends on how long I must wait for the MC452 to arrive at the dealer.  I am lousy at waiting.

Just got the Cary SLI-80 sig. integrated.  Great for headphones AND my floorstanders :)))

DjAmTraX.......Man, oh man, those Cary's look good.  I have auditioned many tube amplifiers in my time, but I have never listened to any Cary amplifiers.  I have only heard good things about them.

Here is a pic of my theater room where the bulk of my audio money has been spent.

According to Cary, the tube circuit isn't routed to the headphones.

My new McIntosh MC452 amplifier for my studio two channel system arrived at the dealer yesterday.  I picked it up, and by early evening had it installed.  What a fantastic sounding amplifier the MC452 is, and not even broken in yet.

Well what do you know you spend enough time on head-fi and in this hobby and you eventually obtain something that could be classified as 'high end'. Stagedac -> Lightspeed attenuator -> NAD C370 -> Orpheus Apollo loud speakers. The speakers are made by an Australian company and were pretty much an impulse buy and for some reason I cannot get the big smile off my face whenever I listen to them. They are a very rich and full sounding speaker with pin point stereo imaging and a life like soundstage. The space I had for positioning the speakers was small to say the least but when I move my chair back I am in the sweet spot and they still sound great in a near field listening situation.

jdandy,

How's the Mc452 compared to your two Mc275?  I love the classic McIntosh look.  Glad to see them not move everything to 3D look.

DjAmTraX.......The primary difference is a substantial increase in output power.  The two MC275's were being operated in mono mode with an output of 150 watts per channel.  The new MC452 outputs 450 watts per channel.  The MC452 is no fully broken in at this time, so I am not making any comparisons to the MC275's sound, or my MC501's sound until after the amplifier has a minimum of 100 hours on it.  What I can say is it sounds natural, very detailed and transparent.  The Sonus faber Guarneri Memento's respond favorably to the higher power of the MC452.  Dynamic range is spectacular.  I am very pleased with the new McIntosh MC452.

I agree that more horse power adds a lot of depth to the music. My Mc602 has some serious kick.
