Philips SHE3580 IEM review--how can something sound so good for $10???

The Viper4Windows program can install device drivers to process all system sounds. Very few "regular equalizers" can work at the system level like this, let alone a high quality one. I use a system vst host, but if equalizing were all I wanted to do, v4w would be what I'm using.

And I would be doing it with the irs function rather the actual equalizer, because the actual equalizer in viper is just your run of the mill 10 band graphic.

Thought I'd try these with foam tips, hoping the sound would improve. It did not.

Ya....they're certainly alright but I can't imagine being able to "hear things" that you couldn't with the etymotics like Joe states, unless of course it's in the subbass region.

I still find the entry level etys to be much better in all ways except for the whole deep seal/comfort thing

I would just like to say after my right eat on the SHE3580 died out, I decided to go with the SHE9700 and so far it reminds me exactly of the 3580s except the width of the soundstage is more open imo.

I can't wait to hear what they will be like after some intense burn in

Regarding the Philips SHE 3581, really the older ear bud, got to tell ya, after about 10 hrs. of break in, this is an amazing phone. And I paid $7.50 from Amazon and no shipping fee! True, as you mentioned, there needs to be a bit of equalizing, but really very little-just a couple of db down in the  239hz, 910 hz and 4khz, on MusicFX. I own a set of Klipch 4 and high end Sony bass in ear buds (the one with the chrome can shape behind the ear piece) and at times I though the Philips was clear with better definition on cymbals and smoother violin and frankly good bass. For this price, highly recommended, and very comfortable.

what is the best equalization to use this headphone(she3590)? i received mine yesterday, and liked almost all kinds of equalization. tried with poweramp and google play music in my nexus 4. now i am using at poweramp in flat with max preamp. the volume is very high even in middle volume, never used in max volume.

There are recommended EQ settings in the opening post but the best setting is the one you like best :) A "correct" setting would be to reduce the bass and treble somewhat.

ok so i bought the 3590

i noticed one problem, the left driver has a defect, the sound is lower than the right driver, and the sound is distorted

but there's another problem: i noticed that my current IEM which is the sennheiser CX150, also has a defect on the left driver, but much less noticeable than with the 3590

at first i thought it was my left ear that had a problem, but i tested each driver separately on my right ear, and the defect is there on the left driver

what a shame, because the right driver of the 3590 delivers a much better sound than the CX150

looks weird almost no treble. i have almost no experience with equalizer and most of audio stuff. i was used to listen to my songs in bass and treble preset, or pure flat. now i cant decide what preset i use, because i liked both of them, and when i put an equalizer i get used to it normally.
now is like this in poweramp:

is there some songs that you recommend to test the potential of these headphones?

When I bought mine I noticed too a lack of treble, I guess the production of these is not the more consisntent. I got the treble I wanted the first time I used the EQ, pretty lucky
