Philips SHE3580 IEM review--how can something sound so good for $10???
Jul 27, 2012 at 6:49 AM Post #301 of 1,072
How bright are these? Is there any sibilance?

Going by others' impressions the 3580 seem to be one of the least sibilant of the recent slew of cheap iem recommendations.

The mic'd versions of these are called SHE3575, SHH3580 and SHE3595. Not guaranteed to sound the same as the SHE3580. I actually found the SHH3580 to be more balanced than the SHE3580. Might even be the better phones overall.

It seems that I hv to try and error between she3575 and she3595.
I just wish anybody can tell me the direct answer.

yeap,at least, thats my experience..  i got the fx40, fx101 and 3580,  the 3580is the least silibant of the three right out the box and even after burnin.

only downside:  the ·\|\|@~$% cable!

Does anyone have the Monoprice 8230's to compare them to these?

got the 4 (8320,3580,fx40,fx101)

3580 are almost silibant free.. FX40 needs a TON of burn in to tame de highs, my personal ratings are:

1. 3580
2. FX101  (very close, almost a tie)
3. Fx40    (still in burn in, but highs are to harsh for me at the moment)
4. 8320   (got a second pair and they sound the same as the first, not impressed with the sound, hard to fit in my ears, to big and my left ears hurts after a while. for 10 bucks more id rather by the 3580 or fx101 as they dont got any fit and use problems)

Fx101 is the bassier of the 4,  3580 not very behind.

Perfect, thanks. I find the FX101 to be so sibilant and harsh on the highs. Does this tame at all with burn in?

i have not heard the SHH, but a friend of mine bought both (she and shh), he seems to like more the SHH than the SHE.

The SHE3580 don't have a problem with sibilance (which is around 2-3,000 hz i think) but above that its pretty messy.  Cymbols sound a little off.  Not refined if you will like my RE0 or my HD650s.  It can be improved with a parametric EQ.  I'm not sure you can make it perfect - maybe if you know what your doing.

Funny, I hear a peak at 3000Hz with the SHE3580 that many other phones don't have.

Sibilance can be anywhere from 2-10kHz, depending on the singer, right?
